Hello,
July nearly ended already - where did it go?
This is a very quick note to say I will be incomunicado for a month or so; we are headed North with the whole household [including my orchids!] Malcolm is there at the moment having left last night with a loaded trailer, loads of dog food, horse feed, tack, food for freezer................. we couldn’t get anything else in the car. He returns tonight and we start to load the next lot............
The lovely Flynn, the Wolfhound X has been sent to Dogs Trust Kenilworth.
Any of you Lurcher Lovers????? He went on ‘The Chance of a Lifetime’ from N Ireland. He is about 2 years old neutered, and perfect in every way apart to a cat aversion!!!
Housetrained, car trained and lovely and BIG, bit larger than my Molly.
I better get started to post this.
Thanks to everyone for your messages, treats and good wishes.
The Jackies and Joni will be here watering the plants and letting the carpenter in [I hope!]
I fervently wish all you bereaved ‘parents’ are recovering from the immediate grief and shock and contemplating the patter of little [rescued?] paws.
Kind Regards to you all,
Enjoy the rest of the summer,
Lynda,
Molly, Horatio, Alfred, Bert, Tallulah, Tig, Annie, Caiomhe and Ruairi, Plus Mouser and Wee Minnie [cats] Mr Splodge, Naughty Jack and Sammy [horses].
THE TINKERS ARE ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, One of the best way to greet a dog is to turn on the side and put your hand out by the side of your body. Let the dog approach your hand to sniff. Let the dog initiate the meeting first. Standing face onto a dog can mean a confrontation to a dog. Also raising the hand above the dogs head can be seen as a threat from that particular dog.
Also a hug to a dog would be another dog trying to dominate him. By putting arms around his back or neck. So this wouldn’t be done with a strange dog by a child or human.
Top of the dogs head is a control zone. That’s why some dogs if owners touch that part in the middle of the dogs neck at the top they can knock your hand out the way or sometimes growl or bite.
That’s where the mother would control and pick them up.
Make sure there is no eye, touch or talk contact at first.
If a child ( 5 year old) for instance confronts a GSD and looks directly into there eyes it can be seen as a threat.
Direct eye contact with the dog and with the height of the child.
Let the dog make the first move if he wants to be touched.
If the dog backs away don’t follow the dog.

It is sunny here in N Ireland AND in Donegal!
That's news!!!!
Dogs fine both ends of country.
Just passing through. Thanks for message.
Love those Beagles: you're either a Hound person or not!!!
Owners have to come with a built in sense of humour!

Hello All,
Thanks for the message and treats.
How are the Beagley people?
Weather is foul here, Heidi-Hi is coming for the day Sat. as she is on heat and can't go to show with the others. Annie will be delighted; hope she doesn't cry all day!
Here,s the latest.................
Tuesday 15th. July.
Well, here we are again,
Home from the travels again; this time it was the wedding of Malcolm’s nephew, Nicholas.
This was a wonderful wedding in an ancient country house in the Essex countryside complete with lake! The bride looked like a fairy princess, the bride’s maids wore greeny turquoise dresses and the flower girls were in white organdy with green sashes. They all looked beautiful. It was a bit like the ‘League of Nations’, there were so many nationalities there; what was especially good was that there was no ‘them and us’ that one so often finds at weddings, everyone chatted to everyone else and a good time was had by all - a very special day, one to remember always.
While we were away ‘The Jackies’ fed the dogs, Joni fussed over the cats and dogs; we were delighted to come home to no catastrophes! That changed this morning, we are home less than 24 hours and I’ve already been to the vet.’s!!
Molly is in season, encaserated in the back yard, Bert and Alfred decided to fight for the right to non-available access! I roared from the kitchen and they both limped away. Upon inspection they both have bite marks on their forelegs, nothing serious but whoever heard of biting LEGS? Necks, shoulders, ears, face and eyes, yes, but legs?!
Malcolm then took the pups, Annie, Bert Tig and Lulu out in the field with him while he was pulling ragweed [ragwort or Benweed], the dogs were tearing around out there as only Lurchers and Whippets do when Annie ran at full speed [awesome] into a wire fence. The ensuing noise was frightening, Malcolm scooped her up and brought her into the cool and quiet of the dining room where I examined her. She has a burn on the inside of one front leg and quite a deep cut, looks like a puncture on the outside of the other front leg. Malcolm thought at least she had a fracture of a foreleg.
2 hours later at vet. She had 1 staple in the cut, onto the anti-biotic and Metacam AGAIN!!
She is currently sleeping in a basket next to me.
The wire has been there for a least 30 years, fortunately it is not barbed wire. It is now being removed.
Ruairi is going in to be castrated on Thursday, only one testicle has dropped and I’m advised that this is a known cause of testicular cancer; so now he is going to be ‘poor little Ruairi no balls’! Caiomhe has a lump [not a fatty one] and so we are investigating that too...............
I have worm doses for the cats............
Jackie [female] has Labradors and one Lurcher. Tina has been unwell and appeared to have a Phantom pregnancy but upon further investigation it turned out to be a womb infection. Poor Jackie, she was ‘between a rock and a hard place’, Tina has a heart murmur and there was a big question mark about the anaesthetic, her condition had deteriorated quite quickly. Thursday she had a blood transfusion and then had ovaries [one with cyst/tumour] and womb removed. After more blood she is recovering slowly, never was there such a well-nursed dog [except Gissy?]
Good weather today, dogs lying about all over the place.
Better go and do some gardening, after I’ve bid on ebay for some fabric to re-cover the dog’s sofa cushions........... the kitchen looked like a snowstorm......!!!
Love to you all and your dogs, special thoughts to the bereaved ‘parents’
