It sounds to me like you've got it covered now, with crates etc., but watch out for the mouthing. Choccypaws advice is SOUND! Make a lot of noise if he ever does anything to hurt you, like scratch with his claws, nip with his teeth or bump into you. That way, they are a bit dazed with the response and they sit and think about it. I always ask for an apology and eventually (after a minute or two of being play-upset) I allow them to apologise. This way, they know that they shouldn't do anything to hurt you and they must always make up to you when they have. This is what would happen in the pack in the wild. The lead dogs make the lesser ones make up if they've done anything wrong. It's straightforward psychology really, but as we keep saying, Labs are soooo intelligent you've really got to be on top of things. Anyway, I'm sure he's proving to be a loving, sweet and furry handful - treasure him and take loads of pics, because they grow up all too quickly. VickiXX

Regarding the feeding, put the food down and then make the pup sit and wait until YOU say OK or similar command for him to eat. Hope when you say snapping, you only mean mouthing, a good way to stop this puppy nipping is to say ouch really loudly, and say no, if he catches you with his teeth, it startles them and lets them know they have hurt you. When the litter are all together and they are play biting each other, they squeal when bitten, it's all part of their learning curve. Janet x

Choccy Labs are fun 24 hours a day, they need a firm hand, loads of love and attention. Lots of exercise is needed otherwise as with all dogs, you will have a boisterous and bored dog on your hands, which is never good news. Labs are working dogs, therefore need to be be stimulated to use their brains, which don't let them fool you into believing they don't have, that's all part of their plan! Labs soon learn to take their place in the family if you show them the correct boundaries. Enjoy your gorgeous pup and love it to pieces xx Janet

Dear Rachel, Thanks for your nice message. I'm not sure I'm the right person to give you advice! Trainer of Dogs (Diane) has lots of good advice, so does Carrie in Italia, but I can tell you what you can expect from puppy labradors - my two bring the number I've had up to four! Tim was calm and sweet, after he'd finished teething, but he had my Dad looking after him full time. Laddie hasn't finished chewing yet and he's now a whopping 2.5 years old! Also, Laddie is an epileptic and he's never had anyone living in the house all the time. I have to work and so must leave them from time to time. I thought Tim would help Laddie, but maybe he didn't. I don't know really what to tell you, except that Labs are extremely intelligent and need to have their brains engaged most of the time. They love to train and learn new things. If you can keep them interested in things you should be OK. Let me know if there's anything more specific you'd like to know. Kind regards, Vicki
