Hi Scrappy, building HDS WOOF (the doggies only BARK) is hard work. So far the girlie gundogs and I have collected seventeen twigs, four leaves, some cardboard with brown sticky tape attached, a piece of string, a plastic bag and a dead pigeon. I am struggling to work out what to do with the pigeon. We also very nearly collected a live deer but that’s another story (naughty Purdey!). At least the girlies make up with their enthusiasm for their complete lack of appreciation of what we actually need for boat building. The same cannot be said for dobes who frankly I blame for not briefing them properly. He says he has been too busy sleeping, watching repeats of DEAL OR NO DEAL or doing the TIMES crossword. In the circumstances I think that we’d all better hope for a DROUGHT this winter! Anyway, guess what you are getting today....that’s right...the TIMES crossword (three clues to do)....and OK then.....you get the pigeon too. Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, today the girls and dobes are sending over a large matchbox. Open it very carefully because in it you will find a rather large live beetle found by Purdey this morning. We are sending it over in hope that you will know what to do with it because it is scaring the living daylights out of Purdey, Sarika and Mr Wimp (ie me!). I think Max is actually pretending to be asleep so that he doesn't have to get involved! PS I'm having a "seventies" moment (not age, just the decade) and have made a lemon meringue pie, so a piece of that is enclosed too (but not in the matchbox because that beetle is so SCARY. Have fun x.

Hi Scrappy, this is a quick visit before we go walkies as the weather is changing, blast. Just when I was getting used to dry and clean (the dogs) and a suntan (mine). So it is away with the suntan lotion (mine) and out again with the wellies (mine) and the towels and wash basin (dogs). Typical. To cheer myself up I made another vodka and orange trifle (hic!) because it went (hic) down very well (hic) before and the girls and dobes are dropping off some of that as well as a tennis ball (from Sarika), an empty bird's egg (from Purdey) and some zzzzzzs (from Max). Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, the work on the doggies only ark has stopped!!! Not because of workers industrial action (when I say workers I use the term very loosely as I, of course, refer to Sarika, Purdey, Maxwell and me and Maxwell is asleep and the other three of us are pretty useless at ark building!), not because of poor pay or long hours or union policy. Nope, work has stopped on HDS (His David's Ship) WOOF because the sun has come out. It is dry and warm and long may it remain so. Following various incidents featuring my fingers and thumbs, the hammer and me, I am sure that I heard a sigh of relief from the aforementioned digits (those that remain) when we decided to down tools. As a result, today the girlies and dobes are delivering some Soltan factor 25 sun lotion, a knotted handkerchief (also known as my sunhat) and my hammer (because it will be safer if you look after it). Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, how are you? Getting older has simply nothing to recommend it, I realised that this morning when I was looking for my glasses. I knew that, being as blind as the proverbial bat, I had absolutely no hope of finding them unless I was actually wearing them, if you SEE what I mean. And I will not mention the senile moments which seem to come now with increasing frequency - did I shut the door? which door? why did I go upstairs? what was that I said I wouldn't forget? And the worrying thing is that I still have the male menopause to come!!!! Anyway, at least the doggies are all flourishing, the girlie gundogs spark each other off and seem to be in a permanent state of puppydom and it is wonderful and long may it last. And although Dobes is obviously beginning to feel his age and is sleeping most of the time, he remains a happy little chap. And none of them have to wear spectacles, the lucky sods. Today the threesome are delivering a bird's feather found by Purdey on our walk, a hair tie (Sarika's favourite toy, she loves it put on her nose) and a duvet (slightly used) from Max...oh yes, and an empty spectacle case. Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, another quick visit today because I have an appointment with a television set and a couple of rugby matches (come on Ireland, come on England). Whilst walking the girls this morning I went near a house where, judging by the most wonderful aromas, someone was cooking breakfast. What is it about the smell of bacon cooking? Whatever it is and maybe because of my diet, it started me off and I simply could not stop salivating. I do not wish to exaggerate the extent of the resultant flooding but suffice to say I was a) very pleased that nobody saw and b) very pleased I had my wellies on and c) very pleased that the girlie gundogs can both swim! Oh the embarrassment! I would be grateful if we could keep this "hush hush" and between ourselves should you hear anything about unexplained flooding in a leafy country lane in Berkshire. I am sure the water level will drop soon. Anyway today Sarika is invariably dropping off an unopened packet of unsmoked back bacon, thick sliced, Purdey is dropping off a frying pan and Max, ever practical, is dropping off a life raft - just in case someone near you cooks a fry-up and I am in the vicinity. Have an excellent weekend and lots of fun x

Hi Scrappy, well "it is good news and bad news" said my beautiful dentist "the good news is that your teeth are fine, the bad news is that your gums have got to come out!" Fortunately she is not only beautiful but also has a sense of humour - but I had better have another check-up tomorrow and the day after and the day after....etc (did I mention that she is beautiful!). Today the girls and doberdog are dropping off Terrine of Duck, Ginger and Spring Onion with Red Onion Marmalade and Toasted Brioche, Tender Cooked Fillet of Beef set on a Potato Rosti finished with a Red Onion Marmalade, Raspberry Brulee with a Grand Marnier Poached Fig plus Freshly Brewed Coffee and Petit Fours and a Selection of British and Continental Cheeses accompanied by Celery. Grapes and Fruit Chutney. That is what I scoffed at the wedding on Saturday, it is perhaps not surprising that I am approaching tomorrow's weigh in on DDDD64 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 64)with rather a lot of interest/trepidation. And, as it is a lovely day here, cold but sunny, I'd better get the dog walks in as snow is forecast so we will see you soon. Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, as you know I have two hairy gundogs. What I want to know is why is it that one (her princessliness Sarika) can drink water and leave not a drip on the floor and the other (the poomonster Purdey) leaves the kitchen looking like we have had a tsunami in it? Is it because one is a princess? Does it have anything to do with fox/deer/duck/provider-unknown poo? Is it because her mum didn't train Purdey properly? Is it correctable? Shall I get Purdey a bib - one of those plastic ones that catch baby food? Do they still make them? Do they do them for dogs? HELP. It is DDDD58 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 58) and it was weigh day yesterday and it wasn't great, same weight as last week. I am a bit disappointed as I'm not aware of having eaten anything naughty and unfortunately the diet is under pressure this weekend as I intend "excessing to excess" at a wedding. More exercise required methinks. OH DEAR. Today therefore the girls and doberdog are dropping off a couple of my spare pounds (no, not of the cash variety!) to see if that helps, and a mop, just in case Purdey comes to visit you. Oh alright then, and a large piece of fillet steak too. Have fun x

Hi Scrappy, me again, not much news today. It's been lovely & sunny so I've been in the garden all day burying my treasures and talking to my friends Mopsy & Max through the fence. I've got a selection of doggy treats for my friends today, so help your self!!! Lots of love from Fluffy xxx

Hi Scrappy, Daddy was at home poorly today so I looked after him, but I think he's going back to work tomorrow. Tonight we've been to Auntie Kate's house and one of her cats hissed at me!! So I got my own back by eating the cat food. Anyway, I don't think you would like that as a treat so I'm sending you some ice cream. Love from Fluffy xxx

Hi Scrappy, Daddy came home sick today so I looked after him (well, I kept him company on the bed) and then mummy took me out. The garbage bags had all gone (could smell where they'd been though) but I had a good sniff of our gatepost because all the boy dogs keep leaving wee mails on it. Not much other news, but it's the weekend now, yippeeee! Sending you a nice piece of rawhide tonight. Love Fluffy xxxx
