Hi Bentley, how are you? My birthday celebrations continue, how lucky I was to be three weeks premature, my liver and I could be very tired by what should have been my real birthday in mid August. It is a lot of fun though!!!! I took the girlie gundogs to the Gamefair at Blenheim yesterday. They were much admired and Purdey even met some of her Slovak relatives. The funniest thing was watching her make friends with a water buffalo, I have never seen a dog stretch its neck so long while in "ready to flee because I am not actually sure what it is " position. She ended up licking the buffalo's ear. Sarika was above it all...buffalo, horses, eagles, ferrets etc etc..they are not humans (her favourites) so hardly worth a princesses interest. Max, as befits one of his age, stayed at home and slept. Today, apart from our best wishes of course, we are delivering a water buffalo's dropping, mainly because we don't know what else to do with it...it is rather large and, as yet, unrolled-in, the Poomonster still being "not too sure". Have fun x.
Hi Bentley, sorry we have been a little slow to visit. we had a beautiful day here after a very cold start. mum has made a real fuss of me today, because I am missing Dad very much. Tammy, Dad and Nanna are doing better. all still in hospital. thank you for remembering them all. thanks for dropping by, we enjoy our visits with you. chicken breast strips for you to enjoy. take care. have a great weekend. God bless, love Tess & Buster ♥♥♥
Lovelly to see you again.Fed up getting wet, it doesn't half make the old fur pong. Still taking mum out twice a day, she loves sloshing about in her wellies.Got a great game for you to try.You are on your walk and do a No.2 (poo), mum comes along with bag to pick it up.She asks if you've finished, you kick some grass to confirm this. You spy some lovelly muddy grass and put your back paws behind it, mum picks up No.2, you launch the mud, it lands smack bang on her knee and slides down her welly-it's a goal! Now's the time to beat a hasty retreat.By the time she's caught up she's calmed down & blames the Council for cutting the grass in the first place! Have fun, leaving some hot chocolate with a blob of cream, Bobby & Benji XX
Hi Bentley, well we had a great walk yesterday evening. Well, to be precise, it was great until the moment when I attached Purdey's lead. You see I hadn't noticed that she had rolled in something and I am actually not sure, on reflection, whether I noticed before or after the deer's breakfast was on my hand. And did it pong, you ask? Well, it took five washes in soapy water and treatment with tomato sauce (useless) and tomato puree (much better) to get rid of the stink....and that was just from my hand! Purdey, the gorgeous little sod, required more drastic treatment and is now, thanks to the tomato puree, a RED Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. Sarika looked on with regal disdain at the chaos and also increased her human vocabulary somewhat, doberdog was, yes that is right, sleeping. Today we thought we had better send over some dog friendly bleach so that, if you are lucky enough to find and roll in some deer poo, you can be restored to your former glory without changing colour. Have fun x
Hello Bentley, great to see you again. very quiet here today. another beautiful day. I think winter has gone away. sorry we are late in our visit to you. mum has been going to remedial massage therapy for her back and is not able to sit for too long. it is helping so much. she just wishes the site was a lot faster. we have some doggy chicken breast strips treats for you. enjoy them. take care. God bless, love Tess & Buster ♥♥♥
Hi all, I wanted to post this note just to say that unfortunately my play pal Finley had to go back to the beagle rescue. He was just to naughty and aways in trouble so he is going to be rehomed. I miss him very much but hopefully I won't be on my own long but I do have my mum to play and cuddle up with. Miss you Finley Luv Bentley and my mum xx
Hi Bentley, how are you and the humans? I haven't had a dog poo moment (if you know what I mean) for a while, in fact I had hoped I had had my last such moment. WRONG. I was walking Sarika earlier. Her princessliness went off to do "what is natural". I got a nappy sack out of my pocket (every item of clothing I have with a pocket has nappy sacks in that pocket) and put my hand in the nappy sack so I could then pick up the poo, reverse the sack, tie up the handles and job done (in more ways than one!). I am not sure when I discovered that I had put my thumb through the hole in the sack tie handle. Was it when I sensed the strange feeling on my thumb or was it when I saw what had happened? And does it really matter? Ugh..Ugh..and more Ughs. After lots of wiping of my thumb on the grass I walked home holding my right hand as far away from me as possible. What hand? No, its not with me! Never seen it before! Anyway I managed to get in the house without using the thumb and several scrubbings later I think that it is finally clean. So today, not surprisingly, the girls and dobes are delivering some nappy sacks without tie handles for your humans. I am off to have another wash. Have fun x
Hi Bentley, I am just taking a break from the packing (we are off to Dorset for a couple of days in search of the elusive salmon). Outside it is a grey day here but inside it is mocha latte ice cream coloured, well the kitchen is. I think that I might have overfilled the ice cream maker. At least licking it straight from the walls saves on the washing up and at least it is absolutely scrumptious. So the girlies (who are currently asleep beside me as I type and are, judging by their movements, dreaming of things they chased yesterday), me and Max, if I can drag him away from the newspaper, are dropping off some of the new ice cream, fresh from the walls. Back soon, have fun x
Hi, Bentley & everyone. I've had an awful day. I only went and twisted my paw last night. Benji had to take mum on her walk on his own this morning whilst I looked after dad. I pinched one of Ben's biscuits at lunch time, held up my POORLY paw, and mum didn't even tell me off. I'm going to try that one again. Sending you one of mum's lamb chops to share- I can't do any wrong today.Love from your friend Bobby X
Hi Bentley, how are you, soon to be numb gum David here today. I managed to break a front tooth vertically again yesterday, it serves me right for eating broken biscuit cake straight from the fridge (I blame she who has just got back from university, I hid the cake so she wouldn't pinch it!). "That is a very crunchy biscuit" I thought until I found the gap in my tooth. I am temporarily being referred to as FANG but at least my soon-to-be visited dentist is beautiful. All is well here otherwise, glorious weather and all the doggies are enjoying life. As a treat we are sending over a bit of broken biscuit cake (if you find any very crunchy bits perhaps you could let me have them back) x
Hi Bentley, well this was meant to be HOORAY it is good news (and a piece of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce) but now it is HOORAY it is good news (and a piece of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce).............. and OH NO it is bad news. The good news is that the enormous beetle has gone. The tape of Heather Mills worked like a dream, it frightened the living daylights out the beetle which was last seen heading for Heathrow, almost closely followed by us lot, the tape WAS very scary. So we were all very pleased and kissing and cuddling AND then we saw THE SPIDER! I wouldn't say the spider is big but think about the size of a saucer (a proper saucer not one of those poncy demitasse numbers) and add a bit, quite a LARGE bit. We tried the Lady McCartney tape and the Mick Jagger photograph and it was not moved, in fact it didn't move at all. What do we do now, we are all very hungry and in various stages of crossleggedness back behind this bloody sofa? If you cannot get David Attenborough at the very least is there any chance of a bucket, ideally empty?!!!!!!!! x
Hi Bentley, well that was a fun couple of days, weatherwise. If you like paddling, swimming, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, fishing, jet and water-skiing and sailing then my back garden was the place to be this weekend, we had so much rain. It is also the first time I have actually considered wearing my fishing chest waders for dog walking - what a picture that would have been, fortunately for all concerned the thought of being seen dissuaded me! Anyway, at the moment, it is not raining so the girls and dobes are dropping off a spare photograph of the sun (no, not the newspaper, that big yellow thing that is meant to be in the sky round here), some broken biscuit cake (because I made one yesterday) and my fishing chest waders (because they, like me, don't want to be seen out with me if I am wearing them!!!). Have fun x
Hello again. We've had some great walks this week, Bobby has been playing with his bouncy ball and I've been topping up my tan-mum said my face was going white because I'm nearly 11, but I think it just needs a bit of tanning.Sent you a juicy steak with gravy, speak soon-Benji XX
Hi Bentley, the work on the doggies only ark has stopped!!! Not because of workers industrial action (when I say workers I use the term very loosely as I, of course, refer to Sarika, Purdey, Maxwell and me and Maxwell is asleep and the other three of us are pretty useless at ark building!), not because of poor pay or long hours or union policy. Nope, work has stopped on HDS (His David's Ship) WOOF because the sun has come out. It is dry and warm and long may it remain so. Following various incidents featuring my fingers and thumbs, the hammer and me, I am sure that I heard a sigh of relief from the aforementioned digits (those that remain) when we decided to down tools. As a result, today the girlies and dobes are delivering some Soltan factor 25 sun lotion, a knotted handkerchief (also known as my sunhat) and my hammer (because it will be safer if you look after it). Have fun x
