Hello again, Romany here. Ever since I arrived here Mam has wanted to call me 'Romany Ree' but she doesn't know quite why. So she keyed it in to the search thingy on the computer, and apparently the 'Romany Ree' is an old traditional Scottish dance. It's also an old fisherman's fly-tying technique (the'Romany Rye and the Romany Ree'). But Mam thinks it's possibly something from her childhood - possibly the chorus of a song, or a character in a storybook perhaps. Just the sort of thing that would have been in those wonderful Rupert annuals - 'on his way home for tea, Rupert bumped into Romany Ree' - that sort of thing. Any ideas would be most welcome. But it gets dafter! Just recently she's started calling me 'Romany Ree from number forty-three'. So Shona says 'but we don't live at number forty-three.' And Mam says 'yes, but forty two doesn't rhyme!' There really is no hope is there? Sending you some fruit cake today as it seems appropriate! love Romany Ree from number forty-three'. (Well, forty-two really!) xxxxx

Hi there, Romany here. Shona has gone to the pictures so Mam and I have nicked the computer for the afternoon. It's funny but when I first arrived here, it got dark early on an evening and when I went in the lounge there was always another puppy staring at me from the other side of the french windows. When I barked she barked back. When I hid from her behind the chair she disappeared, and when I peeped round at the window again she was there again! But then the nights got lighter and the puppy stopped coming. But recently the nights have been drawing in again and the other night there she was, staring back at me from the other side of the french window! Except now she is much bigger and doesn't look like a puppy anymore. I keep barking at her. I even know her name now. She's called 'Your Reflection'. I know this because Mam told me ('Romany, that's your reflection', she said). Funny name for a dog don't you think? Sending soup and rolls as it keeps raining. love Romany xxx

Hi Barnie, how are you? My birthday celebrations continue, how lucky I was to be three weeks premature, my liver and I could be very tired by what should have been my real birthday in mid August. It is a lot of fun though!!!! I took the girlie gundogs to the Gamefair at Blenheim yesterday. They were much admired and Purdey even met some of her Slovak relatives. The funniest thing was watching her make friends with a water buffalo, I have never seen a dog stretch its neck so long while in "ready to flee because I am not actually sure what it is " position. She ended up licking the buffalo's ear. Sarika was above it all...buffalo, horses, eagles, ferrets etc etc..they are not humans (her favourites) so hardly worth a princesses interest. Max, as befits one of his age, stayed at home and slept. Today, apart from our best wishes of course, we are delivering a water buffalo's dropping, mainly because we don't know what else to do with it...it is rather large and, as yet, unrolled-in, the Poomonster still being "not too sure". Have fun x.

Hi Barnie, humans have decided to call the new ginger fluff ball 'Tigger', he is curious, greedy, mischievous, playful, he bounces, leaps, jumps, hisses but he is OK. When he is microchipped, I know, he will be here to stay. Steak treat today. Love, Dylan & the cat team xx xx

Hi Barnie, today didn't start as we planned, my Mum hasn't been happy about Kizzy, one of our cats so she went to th vet & I had my anal glands empited, we then went a nice walk along the sea front, I was joined by one of my best friends Lucy, I am her toyboy as she is 6 months older than I, we did have a nice paddle in the sea & played fetch with my ball. Mum also decided to put the conservatory fan we had brought from the old house into our bedroom, it was quite expensive as we paid for a silent one that doesn't buzz as the wings spin & has been in a box for 4 years, the reason behind the idea, Mum & Dad sleep with the window open so I don't get too hot at night but if the cats misbehave, I bark & my Mum & Dad are worried my loud bark will wake up the neighbours during the unsociable hours, so hence they hatched this plot, my Dad doesn't know Mum has gone ahead with the idea as he is out tonight, she just hope he agrees with what she has done, as they could be just a little hiccup, the ceilings are lower here, certainly much lower than our old conservatory roofing & Dad being over 6ft tall, the fan is only 6ft above the ground, bumps on the head comes to mind, so my Mum has moved the bed to accomodate the fan. Naturally, I was there overseeing the work was carried out to my specifications, I even got on the bed to monitor the work. Leaving you a chicken kebab tonight. With love, Dylan xx xx

Hello Barnie, are you still hurting? please let us know. I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, my joints are giving me a some jip. This is what my Mum has planned for me, it may help you too, I go to another hydrotheraphy session on Sunday & the lady who looks after me has ordered some S.T.P (Stop The Pain), it comes from America & is specially formulated for horses but they have developed a supplement for dogs, so we hope to give it a try & it works. Today, my Mum & Dad are starting to make our 'scarecrows' for the village festival, this year the theme is movie magic. Most of the entrants do figures, we always enter 'animal scarecrows' & this year will be no different, if our ideas work, we will post them on my kennel in a month's time, We are assembling 5 animal characters & one human figure. Leaving you canapes treats for Summer Solstice. Love, Dylan & the cats: Kizzy, Patches, Lucy, Whisky, Zebedee & Skimble xx xx

Hello Barnie, you poor leg, are you any better? do hope the vet can do something to make you feel brighter & more comfortable, sorry you are hurting. Please let us know how you are, healing thoughts your way. Before I tell you about my antics, our condolences for Gis & his family, he was a good friend & we all all going to miss him so much. After quite an uneventful week, I was on good form this morning with my walk (that was until, I got too hot). Firstly, I had to chase Zebedee, one of our cats back to the house, he has a habit of following us on our walks, all claws out, as he tried to deter my attempts to get him back home, needless to say, Mum & dog outwit the cat. Next, I met the Old English Sheepdog from the farm, who had decided to go for a walk by himself, I am not too keen on Henk, he is bigger than me, Mum grabbed him by the collar & phoned the lady, as we weren't that far from home, Mum decided it was a good idea to put him on my lead return home to fetch the spare lead, I was having none of this, so I barked & tried to get Henk away from my Mum, he slipped his collar & ran, although, this friendly warning was instigated by myself, I am not to blame, my Mum says he is a nice dog but he is a little bit too friendly at times & I have a long memory. Anyhow, off he trotted home & was caught by Patsy, a German Pointer & her human. Patsy is more tolerant than me & they led Henk home, as I was pulling on my lead (just trying to assert my authority). Watercress soup, devilled eggs & honey roasted salmon today, my Mum is experimenting again, there is also a little pressie one of the cats brought in but Mum wasn't pleased & some catnip. Love, Dylan & the cats Kizzy, Patches, Lucy, Whisky, Zebedee & Skimble xx xx xx xx.

Hello again, Romany here. Shona has gone out so Mam and I have nicked the computer to go on doggysnaps today, (as opposed to vaccuming the bedrooms or installing the new printer which has been sitting on the landing for a week now). Had a lovely adventure in the early morning sunshine the other day. Our local farmer has a grass airstrip which runs up the middle of one of his wheat fields where he and his mates go to play with their planes on weekends. Well, Mam and I were just approaching the airstrip the other morning when we saw this huge hare. I set off in hot pursuit off down the airstrip after it. It couldn't half shift! I was almost out of Mam's sight by the time it finally gave me the slip and I had to run back empty-pawed. Don't tell anyone, but I didn't have a hope of catching it! Mam told me how Morag used to be fascinated by Farmer John's aeroplanes and how she once absconded from a walk in the woods to go plane-spotting on the airstrip and give one or two of them a run for their money! Unfortunately she forgot where she left Mam and was finally escorted home by one of the neighbours. Mam WAS pleased! But that's another story . . . Poor Little Mog. Anyway my new trick is to empty the log basket and remove the bark from the logs all over the lounge floor. Tee-hee. Funny how I'm allowed the logs but not the basket. Aren't people funny. Sending you a nice log to get your teeth into and a dead wood louse I found under the basket. love Romany xxx

Hi Barnie, is it me or, at the moment, does every new month on DoggySnaps seems to bring some new sadness? So today no funnies from the strange world of Davidmh, we are simply visiting as we wanted to say hello and also to send a virtual cuddle to all our friends x

Hi Barnie, it is my birthday today & guess what, I am at the vets along with Whisky, one of our cats, I have left you a slice of my cake & given Mum my messages to send to my friends, as I will be on the vet's table along with Whisky, paws crossed we both have nice dreams. I know my Mum is anxious, with the phone beside her, but hopefully they will sort out my limp & Whisky's bad tooth, as we are both a bit uncomfortable. She is taking this opportunity to wash all my water bowls in the dishwasher & wash our bedding, just hope she doesn't forget to cook the chicken for our homecoming. Enjoy your cake, & when I am better, it will be a good excuse to have another party. Love, Dylan, Whisky & the other cats x

Hi Barnie and Benjie, Romany here. Well on Sunday someone called Shona is coming back from University. I've never met her but apparently SHE LIVES HERE! Got her own bedroom upstairs and everything. I've even been told this is HER computer! Hope she's nice. Mam says I'll have to meet her the first time out in the garden as I am certain to wee myself with excitement and delight. (She's right). Anyway she says I probably won't see that much of her as she spends most of her time on the computer or out with friends or shopping in somewhere called Top Shop, which I suppose is a bit like Pets at Home. Personally I prefer Next. I keep getting something called the Next Directory out of the bookcase to browse through, but Mam just takes it off me and says 'It's not yours!' Bet they've got some good stuff in there if the taste of the cardboard cover is anything to go by. Sendiung some puppy bone biscuits and page 14 of the Next Directory. love and licks, Romany xxx

Hi Barnie, well that was a fun couple of days, weatherwise. If you like paddling, swimming, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, fishing, jet and water-skiing and sailing then my back garden was the place to be this weekend, we had so much rain. It is also the first time I have actually considered wearing my fishing chest waders for dog walking - what a picture that would have been, fortunately for all concerned the thought of being seen dissuaded me! Anyway, at the moment, it is not raining so the girls and dobes are dropping off a spare photograph of the sun (no, not the newspaper, that big yellow thing that is meant to be in the sky round here), some broken biscuit cake (because I made one yesterday) and my fishing chest waders (because the dogs, like me, don't want to be seen out with me if I am wearing them!!!). Have fun x

Hi Barnie, today's very special treat is a worm. Yes, that is right, A WORM. Purdey has just presented it to me and I am, of course, thrilled!. I think something might have happened to it, of the rolling nature, because Purdey has something on her back and the worm is a bit flattened. Anyway I am sure you will have fun with it. I am only letting Sarika and Max deliver it because I have an awful feeling that the Poomonster would bring it back! Have a great weekend x
