You truly were an angel sent from God in heaven above. Your shocking death just broke the hearts of everyone you loved. When I found out that you had died I thought that they were wrong. You were so alive - and then just like that, you were gone. A flame blown out in seconds, Confirming our worst fears - A light that shines no more on earth for which we shed many tears. But still you are my beacon And I need you right now. You hear all the prayers I say Because they are answered somehow. As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played, I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade. I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity. I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide! And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be! My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do. I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night. 'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold. For although we may not be together in the way we used to be, We are still connected by a cord no eye can see. They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives. In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives. Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor. Our feet still go around the place the food dish use to be, And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly. For hopes not gone, nor are my dreams the light it still shines through and with the help of angels wings I find my way, from here to you. So when the tears fall in the night and fear creeps up, I say the angels are all guarding me so fear.....go on your way! When God calls all his dogs To dwell with Him above, We mortals sometimes question The wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with, The death of one special dog Who does so much to make our world, Seem so wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling The aged to His fold, So He picks a rosebud Before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them, And so He takes but few, To make the land of heaven More beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult Still somehow we must try, The saddest word mankind knows will always be Good-by. God gave us a wonderful dog,their memory will never grow old, He fashioned their smile out of sunshine, He moulded their peart of pure gold.
