Hi Murphy, is it me or, at the moment, does every new month on DoggySnaps seems to bring some new sadness? So today no funnies from the strange world of Davidmh, we are simply visiting as we wanted to say hello and also to send a virtual cuddle to all our friends x

Hi Murphy, today the girls and dobes are sending over a large matchbox. Open it very carefully because in it you will find a rather large live beetle found by Purdey yesterday morning. We are sending it over in hope that you will know what to do with it because it is scaring the living daylights out of Purdey, Sarika and Mr Wimp (ie me!). I think Max is actually pretending to be asleep so that he doesn't have to get involved! PS I'm having a "seventies" moment (not age, just the decade) and have made a lemon meringue pie, so a piece of that is enclosed too (but not in the matchbox because that beetle is so SCARY. Have fun x.

Hi Murphy, how are you? We have had a lot of rain here over the weekend and the tracks have turned into muddy streams. Now I was never a Boy Scout but I remember their motto "Be Prepared", so I have decided it is time to build a boat, just in case we get more floods. I was going to call it an ARK but then I thought "No er, someone has already done that". So I have decided to call it a BARK. Not BARK as in sailing ship but BARK as in WOOF. In fact, on reflection, I shall call it a WOOF.... DAVID'S WOOF.......that has got a nice ring about it, don't you think? Anyway, it is for doggies only so let me know if you would like to reserve a place on DAVID'S WOOF, reasonable rates. Yesterday I made some thai fishcakes which were yummy so the girls, doberdog and I are sending some over with sweet chilli sauce. Got to go now because there are people at the door, OOH ER it is the men in white coats!! Have fun x

Hi Murphy, how are you? Sarika did a somersault/back flip on Sunday, I shall call the move a "Purdey" which is also a bit of a clue as to the outcome. She was chasing a tennis ball which bounced over her head, in her excitement she leapt in the air and did a back flip after the ball .........and landed straight in something disgusting. I think that it had previously "belonged" to a deer or a badger! Sarika was and remains mortified, she is after all a LADY and so was/am I, because, somehow or other, I ended up with some of it on me. I am simply not articulate enough to describe the awfulness of the stench, not without using a fair number of swearwords anyway. Ugh..Ugh..and treble Ugh!!! Thank goodness for tomato puree (Sarika) and anti bacterial handwash (me)and the washing machine (my clothes). And Purdey clearly smiled when she saw what had happened to both Her Majesty and me (her slave), she was also quite clearly trying to work out how to get some of the pong by rolling on Sarika and/or me. Today's treat therefore is an absolute essential now, a non-bouncing tennis ball. And I am off to check my hands again. Have fun x

Hi Murphy, you will never guess what Sarika and Purdey found in the garden last night. There is a clue in the well-known English phrase "pi**ed as a newt" (although, personally, I have never seen a newt drunk). No, silly you, it wasn't a "pi**ed as"....whatever that might be....it was a NEWT. I haven't seen a newt for many years. I have no idea where it came from nor to where it was going but I think breeding is on its agenda. Although I let it go I was tempted to keep it as a pet because I could have called it TINY as, after all, it would have been MY NEWT! (there's nothing like a good old'un as I now unfortunately have to say with increasing regularity). I could have taken it gunnewt training, I could have taught it recall or even dressage to music. I clearly need to lie down. Meanwhile the newt finders and dobes are delivering some bread and worms in case you should find a newt, if not, according to Purdey, the worms are quite scrummy. And on my behalf there is a packet of Cadbury's mini eggs for your humans because it is Easter and because I, David, think that mini eggs are even scrummier than worms. Enjoy.

Hi Murphy, as you know I have two hairy gundogs. What I want to know is why is it that one (her princessliness Sarika) can drink water and leave not a drip on the floor and the other (the poomonster Purdey) leaves the kitchen looking like we have had a tsunami in it? Is it because one is a princess? Does it have anything to do with fox/deer/duck/provider-unknown poo? Is it because her mum didn't train Purdey properly? Is it correctable? Shall I get Purdey a bib - one of those plastic ones that catch baby food? Do they still make them? Do they do them for dogs? HELP. It is DDDD58 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 58) and it was weigh day yesterday and it wasn't great, same weight as last week. I am a bit disappointed as I'm not aware of having eaten anything naughty and unfortunately the diet is under pressure this weekend as I intend "excessing to excess" at a wedding. More exercise required methinks. OH DEAR. Today therefore the girls and doberdog are dropping off a couple of my spare pounds (no, not of the cash variety!) to see if that helps, and a mop, just in case Purdey comes to visit you. Oh alright then, and a large piece of fillet steak too. Have fun x

Hi Murphy, yesterday I thought I was living with howler monkeys. I got back from my regular trip to the supermarkets where, as usual, I had been looking at food and touching the bottles of wine....dieting David also know locally as "here comes that sad of unknown parentage"... anyway, I digress...I returned to a veritable cacophany of sound. All three dogs, even sleeping baldy, were howling - I have no idea what had set them off although I had left the excellent Semisonic album "Feeling Strangely Fine" playing on the CD player so maybe they were trying to sing along! You should have heard the noise...LOUD..Er..no..it was VERY VERY VERY LOUD. In fact it was so embarrassingly loud that I, as there were people walking by, pretended I didn't live here...I rang the bloody door bell.....luckily also my next door neighbour is deaf, otherwise I might have found the RSPCA on the doorstep. Anyway, never ones to miss an opportunity, today the girls and doberdog are dropping off a copy of their newly made cd - "canines do howler monkeys do Semisonic" - apparently Max is on drums, Sarika on bass guitar and Purdey on lead and all are doing the "vocals" (I use the word "vocals" very loosely!!). It could go to number 1, but I am not sure in what! Enjoy (I also use the word "enjoy" very loosely!!). x

Hi Murphy, ......all is well in our world today, after a cold start it is already getting sunny and mild, England aren't going to get beaten by Wales at rugby today (perhaps and only because they are not playing!) and we didn't meet any unpleasant cyclists on our walk. We actually met one who, on seeing the dogs nearby, stopped his bike. If he had been a she I would have been inclined to give her a kiss, instead I said "thank you" and he said "absolutely no problem". That is, indeed, more like it. Today I feel in the need to mention some things yummy (because I, dieting David, cannot have them in real life and I do find myself thinking about food rather a lot at the moment) so the girls and doberdog are delivering sausages, beans and mash followed by a Thai red prawn curry followed by a pavlova meringue filled with double cream, pineapple and stem ginger followed by a sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce followed by a very large piece of brie with digestive biscuits. VERY YUMMY. For some bizarre reason last night I had a dream featuring a cherry bakewell tart (enough said!) so you can have one of those too. Have an excellent weekend and lots of fun x

Hi Murphy, ...a RANT AND A LAUGH TODAY. First the RANT.....What is it about some cyclists? On our walk this morning I saw a cyclist coming down the footpath. I called Sarika and Purdey (Max was still asleep), they came to me, and, with them, I stood off the edge of the path in a field which had young corn growing. Whereupon, as he came by, I got a load of abuse from the cyclist about standing on the crop etc. I pointed out that I had collected the dogs and got them out of his way despite me, as a pedestrian, having right of way over him on the path. It had been clear that he wasn't going to stop. He said not to worry about the dogs because if they came anywhere near him he would kick them out of the way. It is probably not advisable to put my next words and thoughts in writing!!!!,.....And now a LAUGH......We found Sarika and Purdey stuck to the fridge this morning, the little sods had been at the fridge magnets so I guess it served them right! It made walking quite entertaining when we got near things metal. Only joking! Today's treat from the girls and doberdog is a no-go area for difficult cyclists and a fridge magnet (recycled!). Have fun x
