Hi Joy, building HDS WOOF (the doggies only BARK) is hard work. So far the girlie gundogs and I have collected seventeen twigs, four leaves, some cardboard with brown sticky tape attached, a piece of string, a plastic bag and a dead pigeon. I am struggling to work out what to do with the pigeon. We also very nearly collected a live deer but that’s another story (naughty Purdey!). At least the girlies make up with their enthusiasm for their complete lack of appreciation of what we actually need for boat building. The same cannot be said for dobes who frankly I blame for not briefing them properly. He says he has been too busy sleeping, watching repeats of DEAL OR NO DEAL or doing the TIMES crossword. In the circumstances I think that we’d all better hope for a DROUGHT this winter! Anyway, guess what you are getting today....that’s right...the TIMES crossword (three clues to do)....and OK then.....you get the pigeon too. Have fun x
Hi Joy, I thought I should let you know that Sarika, Purdey and I (dobes is directing operations from his bedroom) are now collecting wood. We have seven twigs so far, which isn’t as many as I expected but it is not my fault that the girlie gundogs got distracted by some slugs. WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT? Well, we have had a great deal of rain here and as, apparently, we have a wet winter coming it seems a good time to get going on the HDS (His David’s Ship) WOOF...... AND TO BRING NEW DOGGIES UP TO SPEED........this is the doggies only BARK we are building so all doggies can cope with any flooding (I was going to call it an ARK but then thought “No er, someone has already done that”). Anyway, a virtual ticket for our maiden voyage is enclosed; however, following the twig collecting, the date of the voyage is as yet uncertain x
Hi Joy, today we are sending kisses and cuddles all round. Also some VERY SAD news, my short but very intense love affair with the farmer’s TRACTORS is over. WHY, I hear you ask, because you, like me, no doubt thought it was the REAL THING? Two words have driven us apart...........MUCK SPREADING. This is the latest task in the fields and YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE PONG, even the entire world production of tomato sauce and puree would not be able neutralise it. The girlie gundogs reactions to the PONG were interesting, her Princessliness immediately reached for her snuff box and embroidered handkerchief (I think that she might be reclaiming her royal status), Purdey, on the other hand, clearly fancied doing cartwheels, forward rolls and numerous other gymnastic manoeuvres immediately behind the spreader. (Note to self: Purdey will not be going near the field for a few days). Meanwhile dobes had a VERY BAD day. He woke up (A BIG MISTAKE AS IT TURNED OUT) to the horrors of a bath and a very necessary but clearly TRAUMATIC botty wash; you should have heard the screams. I have a feeling that he might now pretend to be fast asleep for the foreseeable future. x
Hi Joy, NEWS FLASH....NEWS FLASH.....NEWS FLASH..... ANOTHER SHOCK HORROR AWE FILLED SENSATION. People of Berkshire in the United of Kingdoms have been stunned by the incredible news from the davidmh kennel. Her Princessliness Sarika ....... a member of The Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Royal Household, she of the ”butter wouldn’t melt” expression, she of the human eyes and the perfumed botty burps, the Laydee of the Month of Lurve, also known as Her Gorgeousness and, by Purdey, as Miss Goody Twoshoes............ has disgraced herself. On a walk this morning she did a Purdey, SHE ROLLED IN SOMETHING UNMENTIONABLE AND VERY SMELLY. Her human slave (now on tranquillisers) and the incorrigible one, the Poomonster, looked on in complete bewilderment. The sleeping dobes has yet to express an opinion. TV news crews from the Doggy Channel are on site and the Ambulance Service are administering to many stunned passers-by. What next?!!!! Will Sarika become the Poomonster? Will Purdey give up her title willingly? Will Max wake up? A bottle of pop and a fillet steak for you while we are waiting for answers to these fundamental questions. x
Hi Joy, how are you? My birthday celebrations continue, how lucky I was to be three weeks premature, my liver and I could be very tired by what should have been my real birthday in mid August. It is a lot of fun though!!!! I took the girlie gundogs to the Gamefair at Blenheim yesterday. They were much admired and Purdey even met some of her Slovak relatives. The funniest thing was watching her make friends with a water buffalo, I have never seen a dog stretch its neck so long while in "ready to flee because I am not actually sure what it is " position. She ended up licking the buffalo's ear. Sarika was above it all...buffalo, horses, eagles, ferrets etc etc..they are not humans (her favourites) so hardly worth a princess's interest. Max, as befits one of his age, stayed at home and slept. Today, apart from our best wishes of course, we are delivering a water buffalo's dropping, mainly because we don't know what else to do with it...it is rather large and, as yet, unrolled-in, the Poomonster still being "not too sure". Have fun x.
Hi Joy, I am just taking a break from the packing (we are off to Dorset for a couple of days in search of the elusive salmon). Outside it is a grey day here but inside it is mocha latte ice cream coloured, well the kitchen is. I think that I might have overfilled the ice cream maker. At least licking it straight from the walls saves on the washing up and luckily it is absolutely scrumptious. So the girlies (who are currently asleep beside me as I type and are, judging by their movements, dreaming of things they chased yesterday), me and Max, if I can drag him away from the newspaper, are dropping off some of the new ice cream, fresh from the walls. Back soon, have fun x
Hi Joy, well that was a fun couple of days, weatherwise. If you like paddling, swimming, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, fishing, jet and water-skiing and sailing then my back garden was the place to be this weekend, we had so much rain. It is also the first time I have actually considered wearing my fishing chest waders for dog walking - what a picture that would have been, fortunately for all concerned the thought of being seen dissuaded me! Anyway, at the moment, it is not raining so the girls and dobes are dropping off a spare photograph of the sun (no, not the newspaper, that big yellow thing that is meant to be in the sky round here), some broken biscuit cake (because I made one yesterday) and my fishing chest waders (because the dogs, like me, don't want to be seen out with me if I am wearing them!!!). Have fun x
Hi Joy, the girlie gundogs reminded me of my long lost youth today because they were chasing birds. Their targets, unlike mine in the good old days, were of the feathered variety (have no fear my ornithological friends, the bells on the girlies collars act as a very effective early warning system) with magpies and pigeons on the agenda. All the creeping, pointing and "I am invisible" positions adopted were very amusing to watch and brought back "David in the disco" memories - most of which were very painful and I am not just talking about the resultant arthritis. In their new role as a David Tribute Ensemble called "Remember the (a number I am not going to tell you, you'll have to guess)ties" the girls and doberdog are today dropping off a pair of bottle green velvet flares, a pink floral shirt, a tank top and some Brut aftershave. Hmmmmm on reflection those could explain a great deal, particularly the "lack of success"!!! Have fun x
Hi Joy, Sorry we've been away for a while, but mommy had the rocks taken out of her tummy and is feeling much better. We still can't understand why she won't let us sit on her tummy!! The pugs got over being left at mommy's friend's kennel for 5 days (they were so glad to come home), but the rest of us had fun staying at grandma's house. Grandma and grandpa slip things to us when mommy's not watching. My coat is changing colors and mommy has no idea what color I am going to be. She started stripping my coat and hopes that it will stay shorter and coarser. I don't mind it too much, I just lay down and go to sleep. Makes it hard for her to do my back end and legs though!!!! Squirrel jerky for todays treat, Luv, Dweezel and the gang xxxxxx
Hi Joy, well, mommy dumped the puggies and Skippy off at a kennel today for the next 4 nights. The rest of us are staying with her at grannies house. Mommy is having her surgery tomorrow morning to get rid of those nasty rocks in her tummy. May not be able to visit for a few days so leaving an extra treat for the week. Luv, Dweezel and the gang xxxxx
Hi Joy, Sorry we haven't been around to visit sooner but mommy has rocks in her tummy and doesn't feel very well. She has to have them taken out on April Fools day, hahahaha, we think that's funny. She doesn't!! Leaving pizza today. Luv, Dweezel and the gang
Hi Joy, hope you all are having a great day. Mommy has kicked us out of the house and locked the doggy door. It is so pretty outside. Hard to believe we had a tiny bit of snow Saturday morning. Plus, I think we were getting on "her last nerve". It wasn't me, really. Ollie and Sam were having a spat over a bone. Oh, well. Leaving some chicken and rice for today. Luv, Dweezel and the gang
Hi Joy, Mommy has been so busy. So she promised to try and visit our friends for us today. She said we can give everyone fish sticks for a treat. Nummy!!!! Cricket and Jessica turned 14 and 12 last week. Old girls!!! Cricket got a very good vet report and Jessica will go to the vet this week for her checkup. She has a mild heart murmur and hopefully it has not gotten worse. Dweezel is being Dweezel, what can we say. We will be so glad when he gets a little older. LOL I think I am his new personal play toy. Luv, Petra and the gang xxxxx
Hi Joy, It's raining cats (oh, no!!!) and dogs here so we have had to stay indoors for most of today and drive mommy crazy. There is something to be said for sunshine. Leaving you a peanut butter treat today, luv Dweezel and the whole gang. xxxx
