Hello to all my sympathetic friends on DS., I thought I'd try to write and tell you all how I feel with all these kind thoughts, poems, prayers and messages arriving. When I realise it is only a week ago today Floss did the Houdini trick and went off with Tallulah on the hunting trip in the disused quarry behind our house, it seems incredible she is now dead. We are no wiser as to what the infection was, but it must have been very severe as she was given steroids and the highest dose of antibiotics possible. She went downhill so fast we could see her dying before our eyes: we were incapable to do anything more other than keep her warm and keep her company. It was not a hard decicision to put her down, she would have been dead, I'm sure, within 24 hours. Mark, my vet. came to the house and told me we could put her on a drip but he thought it would only prolong the inevitable, I thought she had been quite distressed and I said 'Enough is enough'. I held her paw and she just drifted off, it was a matter of seconds. She is buried [digger ruined ANOTHER bit of the front lawn!] in the field at the side of the house alongside Bernard the Staghound? but that's another long story for another day. I read on DS statistics that someone has 43 dogs in their kennel, I started counting and realised that our running total including the dear departed is.......... 28! One day I will start scanning photographs and post all our other friends, until then I'll stop at 9. One other thought though......... our maximum no of dogs is 10.. that's the theory anyway....... for all you mathematicians that means we have 2 vacancies !!!!! I don't go looking for dogs they just turn up at our gate, are found wandering the streets, or the Dog Warden 'phones me......................... Again, thankyou for your concern it is much appreciated, Kind regards to you all, Lynda and the family

Hi, The Murph, Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the treat. I'm doing fine despite my new Bruv - Amos - Dogue De Bordeaux, great gump! One of my feet is equall to one of his toes and he's a baby! Makes good tormenting when there is nothing doing outdoors! Mam is training him to work sheep, and he's doing fine, I can make 'em run better than him though. Sending you some best tripe, raw, of course, enjoy. Love Peggy and Co. XX

Hi, The Murphy, thanks so much - your Mum's a good cook, perfect. I've been busy tormenting workmen today, their vans are like Aladinn's Cave (I found Pot Noodles). Liked the pot - didn't try the contents (a bit dry). My brothers concentrated on limiting their search to vermin - no luck - fools! it's we females that are ingenious. Diserficiation, they need to adopt different principles otherwise they might starve. Love to all Peggy and Co. X

Hi Murphy, I think we should both get a new Chef - I'm on the dog food tonight because I didn't want my supper last night, still it makes a change, I'm eating as we speak, no chance of me getting her supper! We've gone through the range - deli chicken, raw lamb, beef, dog food, cat food, at present I like spagetti without the sauce! Like sucking it up. Mum despairs.

Hi Murphy, I think you are the best, I'm not quite up to your aristocatic ancestry but there is a lot of me in there..I;m sending you all my love tonight ( pantry's empty) and Mum is miffed 'cos I have not touched my tea. Well I like things one day and she tries to give them to me for days on end, I go off. What do you feed someone who loves chicken one day, hates it the next????? Love to all Pegggy and Co.

Hi thanks for visiting us. I understand about missing your poodle. We had one before these two, who was my mother in law's and I missed her so much when she went. Someone once said that a dog leaves a different shaped space in your life when they die from the ones that people do. It sort of made sense at the time to me. Your Murphy is very handsome though, is he quite big? I have no sense of scale..... love from me and Zeb and Lulu
