This is PMDandBorderCollies' dad.
It has been almost a month since our most precious "Holly" was taken from us. Despite only having the privilege of being "her chosen family" for just 6 months she became an absolutely integral part of our entire (human/canine) family. I do not know if it is typical, whether by virtue of the fact that she was a rescue dog or our realisation after her adoption that she had had a less than loving previous life our bond with her, or at least mine, was incredibly intense and unequivocally loving in a way that only can be shared between a human and dog. We deliberately took her on knowing that, as a 10 year old Pyrenean, she was never going to live for very long; but insistent that she would receive anything and everything that she wanted. However, I can not believe the profound pain and overwhelming sense of emptiness resultant from her passing. The sense of longing, grief, regret and resentment that we did not meet until her twilight years is tangible. However, the few days before her untimely passing when she lay in my lap eating fresh spit-roasted chicken occasionally looking up at me with those eyes like deep pools with what seem liked unbridled affection will live with me for ever as will the honour of holding her tightly during the final moments of her beautiful life. Without putting too fine a point on it, my sense of loss is so much greater than with most humans that I have known, and has not abated over the last 4 weeks. We have a little shrine for her ashes which provides some comfort and opportunity to talk to her. I really miss you Holly - bye bye. I just hope that your existence now is what you want it to be and at some time we will be reunited. Love dad
Our beloved, and our faithful friend, your love you shared till the very end. For years your family was blessed, now it's time for you to rest. You still live on in the hearts and minds, of the loving family you left behind. ♥♥♥xXx♥♥♥
Here again, just been to the forum. What a special girl you are Holly. So sorry for your loss, we know how your feeling - we are here if you need us. God Bless you all xxxxxx
