THE JOYS OF DOG OWNERSHIP....CHAPTER 4. ("Ahs" not "Urghs"). DOBERDOG. Max has given up barking, instead he is quite clearly saying "Rolf". He has always been quite articulate, once when he was begging at the dining table I told him that he could have some ham if he could say "gammon". Ten minutes later he said "gammon". He hasn't worked out however that it doesn't work if we are eating fish, steak, shepherds pie etc. He also has yet to manage to say "pease pudding"! Anyway Rolf. I am uncertain as to whether he is calling for Rolf Harris to put him on a pet programme or, alternatively, he has a friend called Rolf, in this life or a previous one. Advice wanted. THE GIRLS. They were asleep in the sitting room, Sarika on the sofa, Purdey on the floor. Purdey was having something of a nightmare judging by the squeaky barking and whimpering. This was getting louder and more frequent. As I went to her Sarika overtook me and started to gently lick her face, clearly comforting her. It was one of those wonderful moments and I nearly cried. ME On the phone late last night with work people in the USA, the dogs were in bed. I went to the loo for a pee on my way to bed. Thought I wouldn't flush because I did not want to disturb the dogs. DID NOT WANT TO DISTURB THE DOGS! What is that all about? I think that they have finally taken complete control of my life. And do you know something? I really don't mind. TREATS. Relevant today. First a Didgeridoo (just in case it is THAT Rolf and he turns up), then a mug of Horlicks (gives untroubled sleep apparently) and finally a loo with a silent flush (just in case it is Number 2s next time!!!). Have fun x

THE JOYS OF DOG OWNERSHIP....CHAPTER 37. What is it about me and dog poo? If I pick up a poo covered stick it is always the wrong end, if I throw away a clearing up stick after use Sarika brings it back, wiping the wrong end on my trousers. It seems to follow me around whatever I do. Perhaps, like Purdey, I should confont it head on and roll in it? On the other hand, perhaps not. Yesterday the girls were in the garden - currently not under water, HOORAY. One of them did a poo - I will not say which one because she, being a princess, is normally above such things. So I got a nappy sack out of my pocket - do you know that, whatever I am wearing, I always have nappy sacks in a pocket, even my dressing gown. What is that all about? Anyway, I digress - I got the nappy sack and a shovel and put the poo into the sack...........It is difficult to remember exactly when I noticed that the nappy sack had a large hole in it. I really cannot remember whether it was before or after I noticed that a load of dog poo had gone straight through the nappy sack and had landed on my sock and slipper. Sadly they were both on my foot at the time!......I did not know that I knew some of the words that came out of my mouth at that moment. I do not normally drink alcohol before the evening, yesterday I made an exception by several hours. In sympathy with my plight and still working on "be prepared" the girls and doberdog are today sending over a clean pair of socks and some washing powder and, practical as always, a cork. Hmmmmm. I will leave you to work out what to do with the cork but will give you a couple of clues....a) dog and b) its bottom. Have fun x

back again my friend, last night mum let me go upstairs for a change and i learned a really good game!!first you have to wait till the humans are sleeping then you start digging at the duvet like you are on a treadmill at this point the humans will tell you its 3 in the morning and to go to sleep!!you look at them with an innocent look they go back to sleep!!you then start again till you have the duvet on the floor at which point one of the humans will get up to lift the duvet off the floor at this point its your oportunity to get as much space on the bed as you can(got to have our comfort havent we?)pretend you are sleeping so one of the humans has to go downstairs to sleep(they will see what its like to sleep downstairs)and hey presto you have a bed with one of your humans to cuddle in to!!its great fun!!brought you some roast beef and yorkshire puddings with apple pie and cream for afters off to see what other new games i can think of?see you soon luv and woofs *xxxrosiexxx*

Hi. Just rung the vet and Purdey's spay operation went well and she has come round after the anaesthetic. PHEW. Bit of a tearful moment that was. Collecting her at 5pm. And now back to the usual stuff......You might have read the thread started by Spinrule in The Lampost about the new cosmetic product - snail slime gel. Well after quite a bit of effort I have managed to collect some from Rodney the snail (who is still answering to the name Roberta, the little ...!) and this is today's treat from the girls and doberdog. Use sparingly because there isn't that much but it might get rid of a wrink! Oh and I've added a piece of rump steak too. Enjoy.

Hi. Well that was a great couple of days - NOT. First I have to deal with the issue of Rodney the snail who, despite counselling, still refuses to answer to any name other than Roberta. The words "garlic" and "butter" are coming to mind. And now we have the stick incident. Walking the girls this morning in the woods and chanced upon a dog poo on one of the tracks. Picked up a stick and flicked the particularly runny errant poo off the track. Threw stick into the woods. Suddenly there was a flash of ginger (well, russet gold) as Sarika flashed by into the woods, retrieved the stick and brought it back very proudly. That was fine, but as she donated it to me guess which end brushed against my trousers? Go on, guess! In sympathy for my predicament today's treat on behalf of the girls and doberdog is some Vanish stain removing spray.......Oh, alright then...and a fillet steak. Oops, got to go as Purdey has decided to improve her linguistic skills by eating a French/English dictionary. Have fun.
