Hi Charlie, there was a large beetle in the house. Well this was meant to be HOORAY it is good news (and a piece of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce) but now it is HOORAY it is good news (and a piece of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce).............. and OH NO it is bad news. The good news is that the enormous beetle has gone. The tape of Heather Mills worked like a dream, it frightened the living daylights out the beetle which was last seen heading for Heathrow, almost closely followed by us lot, the tape WAS very scary. So we were all very pleased and kissing and cuddling AND then we saw THE SPIDER! I wouldn't say the spider is big but think about the size of a saucer (a proper saucer not one of those poncy demitasse numbers) and add a bit, quite a LARGE bit. We tried the Lady McCartney tape and the Mick Jagger photograph and it was not moved, in fact it didn't move at all. What do we do now, we are all very hungry and in various stages of crossleggedness back behind this bloody sofa? If you cannot get David Attenborough at the very least is there any chance of a bucket, ideally empty?!!!!!!!! x
Hi Charlie, how are you? I hoped that spring had sprung, if it has I think it has now sprung back into its box because it has been icy cold here. And talking of spring, Sarika did a somersault/back flip yesterday, I shall call it a "Purdey" which is also a bit of a clue as to the outcome. She was chasing a tennis ball which bounced over her head, in her excitement she leapt in the air and did a back flip after the ball .........and landed straight in something disgusting. I think that it had previously "belonged" to a deer or a badger! Sarika was mortified, she is after all a LADY and so was I, because, somehow or other, I ended up with some of it on me. I am simply not articulate enough to describe the awfulness of the stench, not without using a fair number of swearwords anyway. Ugh..Ugh..and treble Ugh!!! Thank goodness for tomato puree (Sarika) and anti bacterial handwash (me)and the washing machine (my clothes). And Purdey clearly smiled when she saw what had happened to both Her Majesty and me (her slave), she was also quite clearly trying to work out how to get some of the pong by rolling on Sarika and/or me. Today's treat therefore is an absolute essential now, a non-bouncing tennis ball. And I am off to check my hands again. Have fun x
Hi Charlie, goodness me it is windy here, I knew I would regret that second bowl of cabbage soup! Watched Crufts on the tv and there was that wonderful moment in the Friends for Life result when Harriet, the little girl with cerebral palsy, got upset after winning. Her dog, the beautiful Yepa, climbed onto Harriet's wheelchair to comfort her. It was such a wonderful moment it made me cry. The HWVs are such a fabulous sensitive breed. As a tribute to Yepa, her princessliness Sarika has been in the kitchen making an Hungarian goulash which she is sending over. Purdey is bringing the mashed potato and a vegetable of your choice and Max is bringing some bread with which you can mop up all those lovely juices. Enjoy x
Hi Charlie, it is Valentine's Day. Today Sarika, also known as the Ladyee of Lurve, Purdey, also known as the Poomonster, Maxwell Doberdog, also known as the Sleeping Baldy, and their Human (me.....also known as A Bit Slimmer - 12lb off now!) are sending you all - doggies and human slaves - a virtual Valentine card, with all our love x
Hi Charlie,,...today's question...is supermodel status going to Sarika's head? Not only does she, like her "sister", now refuse to get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day but the Laydee of the Month of Lurve rather disgraced herself yesterday. Bear in mind that she is an Hungarian princess - first we had a quite distinct BURP followed shortly afterwards by a very audible BOTTOM BURP - in fact it was so loud she frightened herself and scarpered! It did make me laugh though and for a moment there I thought I was back in my old rugby club!!!! Purdey has always been rather basic (or is the required word normal?) but Sarika, the princess, her ladyship, her most graciousness, has always been rather above such elemental things. The bottom burp was actually fragrant, in fact quite clearly perfumed, so I guess she redeemed herself a tad. Maxwell Doberdog was of course oblivious to it all, being asleep - even the noise did not disturb him. Today the girls and dobes are therefore dropping off some "just in case" treats - earplugs, a cork and a noseclip. Oh yes, they will also chuck in some food because dieting David (ie me) is still fantasizing and therefore I need to mention some yummies - this time it is a fillet steak, rare, with chips and peas and mushrooms and an onion and tomato salad and lots of English mustard and, of course, a cherry bakewell tart again (still dreaming!) and custard, lots of custard! MMMMMMMMMMMM. Have fun x
Hi charlie, ...a RANT AND A LAUGH TODAY. First the RANT.....What is it about some cyclists? On our walk this morning I saw a cyclist coming down the footpath. I called Sarika and Purdey (Max was still asleep), they came to me, and, with them, I stood off the edge of the path in a field which had young corn growing. Whereupon, as he came by, I got a load of abuse from the cyclist about standing on the crop etc. I pointed out that I had collected the dogs and got them out of his way despite me, as a pedestrian, having right of way over him on the path. It had been clear that he wasn't going to stop. He said not to worry about the dogs because if they came anywhere near him he would kick them out of the way. It is probably not advisable to put my next words and thoughts in writing!!!!,.....And now a LAUGH......We found Sarika and Purdey stuck to the fridge this morning, the little sods had been at the fridge magnets so I guess it served them right! It made walking quite entertaining when we got near things metal. Only joking! Today's treat from the girls and doberdog is a no-go area for difficult cyclists and a fridge magnet (recycled!). Have fun x
Hi Charlie, a quick visit today as I have to get on the motorways again. We are having great fun getting used to paparazzi everywhere here at the moment, trying to get pictures of Sarika, The Laydee of the Month of Lurve (Hergorgeousness) and her companions Purdey (Herverysmellymostofthetimebecauseshelikesrollinginfoxanddeerpoopoothankgoodnessfortomatopureeness) and doberdog (Hisveryoldandsleepiness), As a result I may have to put them all in disguise (which should get some odd looks from those round here who already doubt my sanity). So it is spare disguises - dark glasses and funny hats - they are sending over today. Have fun x.
Good morning Charlie, how are you today? I'm sleepy this morning and want to go back to bed, but mummy made me get up <sigh> Enjoy your day. Here's a bowl of rice krispies for you. Lots of love Alfie xox
