Hi Niff, this is a quick visit before we go walkies as the weather is changing, blast. Just when I was getting used to dry and clean (the dogs) and a suntan (mine). So it is away with the suntan lotion (mine) and out again with the wellies (mine) and the towels and wash basin (dogs). Typical. To cheer myself up I made another vodka and orange trifle (hic!) because it went (hic) down very well (hic) before and the girls and dobes are dropping off some of that as well as a tennis ball (from Sarika), an empty bird's egg (from Purdey) and some zzzzzzs (from Max). Have fun x

Hi Niff, the work on the doggies only ark has stopped!!! Not because of workers industrial action (when I say workers I use the term very loosely as I, of course, refer to Sarika, Purdey, Maxwell and me and Maxwell is asleep and the other three of us are pretty useless at ark building!), not because of poor pay or long hours or union policy. Nope, work has stopped on HDS (His David's Ship) WOOF because the sun has come out. It is dry and warm and long may it remain so. Following various incidents featuring my fingers and thumbs, the hammer and me, I am sure that I heard a sigh of relief from the aforementioned digits (those that remain) when we decided to down tools. As a result, today the girlies and dobes are delivering some Soltan factor 25 sun lotion, a knotted handkerchief (also known as my sunhat) and my hammer (because it will be safer if you look after it). Have fun x

Hi Niff, how are you? Getting older has simply nothing to recommend it, I realised that this morning when I was looking for my glasses. I knew that, being as blind as the proverbial bat, I had absolutely no hope of finding them unless I was actually wearing them, if you SEE what I mean. And I will not mention the senile moments which seem to come now with increasing frequency - did I shut the door? which door? why did I go upstairs? what was that I said I wouldn't forget? And the worrying thing is that I still have the male menopause to come!!!! Anyway, at least the doggies are all flourishing, the girlie gundogs spark each other off and seem to be in a permanent state of puppydom and it is wonderful and long may it last. And although Dobes is obviously beginning to feel his age and is sleeping most of the time, he remains a happy little chap. And none of them have to wear spectacles, the lucky sods. Today the threesome are delivering a bird's feather found by Purdey on our walk, a hair tie (Sarika's favourite toy, she loves it put on her nose) and a duvet (slightly used) from Max...oh yes, and an empty spectacle case. Have fun x

hi Niff, how are you? We have had a lot of rain here over the weekend and the tracks have turned into muddy streams. Now I was never a Boy Scout but I remember their motto "Be Prepared", so I have decided it is time to build a boat, just in case we get more floods. I was going to call it an ARK but then I thought "No er, someone has already done that". So I have decided to call it a BARK. Not BARK as in sailing ship but BARK as in WOOF. In fact, on reflection, I shall call it a WOOF.... DAVID'S WOOF.......that has got a nice ring about it, don't you think? Anyway, it is for doggies only so let me know if you would like to reserve a place on DAVID'S WOOF, reasonable rates. Yesterday I made some thai fishcakes which were yummy so the girls, doberdog and I are sending some over with sweet chilli sauce. Got to go now because there are people at the door, OOH ER it is the men in white coats!! Have fun x

Hi Niff, how are you? It poured with rain here last night but now spring is back, the sun is out and it is getting warm. This will be a short visit to DoggySnaps because I have just noticed Sarika and Purdey getting their wellies on. I am getting the message that a walk - or should I say an expedition featuring sniffing exotic and not-so-exotic smells, rolling in poo, eating poo, hunting and chasing everything including animals, insects and leaves and swimming in any available puddle - is required. And I am not going to mention "getting filthy dirty". It really IS a dog's life round here! They are leaving you one of my socks, slightly chewed, and a worm, slightly chewed, and the Heart greatest hits cd because that is playing here at the moment. Have fun x.

Hi Niff, just leaving you an Easter treat. Don't think it's your sort of weather out there today so expect you are curled up by the fire keeping warm. Mum is trying to decide whether to go out for a walk or go back to bed. Roly's already made his decision but I am ever hopeful! Don't worry, spring is on it's way and we are hoping for a nice, hot summer this year. Love Milo x

Hi Niff, you will never guess what Sarika and Purdey found in the garden last night. There is a clue in the well-known English phrase "pi**ed as a newt" (although, personally, I have never seen a newt drunk). No, silly you, it wasn't a "pi**ed as"....whatever that might be....it was a NEWT. I haven't seen a newt for many years. I have no idea where it came from nor to where it was going but I think breeding is on its agenda. Although I let it go I was tempted to keep it as a pet because I could have called it TINY as, after all, it would have been MY NEWT! (there's nothing like a good old'un as I now unfortunately have to say with increasing regularity). I could have taken it gunnewt training, I could have taught it recall or even dressage to music. I clearly need to lie down. Meanwhile the newt finders and dobes are delivering some bread and worms in case you should find a newt, if not, according to Purdey, the worms are quite scrummy. And on my behalf there is a packet of Cadbury's mini eggs for your humans because it is Easter and because I, David, think that mini eggs are even scrummier than worms. Enjoy.

Hi Niff, hope you are not flooded out again. We had a bit of excitement today when Kat brought a live robin into the house and let it go. We were all jumping around trying to catch the poor thing with Mum shouting at us all (which just made things worse of course!). Eventually Mum coaxed it into a shoe box with some mealworms and a table mat (don't ask) and let it go. Excitement over we went back to watching the rain while Kat stood guard over the shoe box, convinced it was still in there, (and who says cats are intelligent?!). Sending a couple of robin feathers to play with. Love Milo and Roly x

Hi Niff, goodness me it is windy here, I knew I would regret that second bowl of cabbage soup! Watched Crufts on the tv and there was that wonderful moment in the Friends for Life result when Harriet, the little girl with cerebral palsy, got upset after winning. Her dog, the beautiful Yepa, climbed onto Harriet's wheelchair to comfort her. It was such a wonderful moment it made me cry. The HWVs are such a fabulous sensitive breed. As a tribute to Yepa, her princessliness Sarika has been in the kitchen making an Hungarian goulash which she is sending over. Purdey is bringing the mashed potato and a vegetable of your choice and Max is bringing some bread with which you can mop up all those lovely juices. Enjoy x

Hi Niff, THE GOOD NEWS, it is DDDD65 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 65) and yesterday was weigh day...guess what, 1 stone 2 lb gone now. I am very chuffed because I did scoff a lot of really yummy stuff at the wedding on Saturday. I guess that the excess has gone because it has got jolly cold here and I have exercised and shivered it off. Turning off the central heating and keeping all the windows open was clearly one of my better ideas although I am not convinced that Mrs Davidmh agrees, it is the first time she has ever had a bath while wearing gloves and a hat!!! Ho Ho (only joking but what a very good idea...Hmmmmm...!). And now the doggies: well, they are all blooming, the girls are getting plenty of exercise and Max is slowly increasing his awake hours. THE UGH NEWS, speaking of Max, he had an "accident" of the "dumping" type in the kitchen yesterday; guess who cleared it up? It wasn't him, it wasn't me or the begloved and behatted wife and, of course, it wasn't the princessliness Sarika. Purdey cleared it up, if you know what I mean! As a result the Poomonster will not be kissing me in the near future! THE TREAT NEWS, I made a thai red prawn curry for Mrs Davidmh yesterday and there is some left over so the girls and doberdog are dropping that off with some sticky rice. Enjoy x

Hi Niff, yesterday I thought I was living with howler monkeys. I got back from my regular trip to the supermarkets where, as usual, I had been looking at food and touching the bottles of wine....dieting David also know locally as "here comes that sad of unknown parentage"... anyway, I digress...I returned to a veritable cacophany of sound. All three dogs, even sleeping baldy, were howling - I have no idea what had set them off although I had left the excellent Semisonic album "Feeling Strangely Fine" playing on the CD player so maybe they were trying to sing along! You should have heard the noise...LOUD..Er..no..it was VERY VERY VERY LOUD. In fact it was so embarrassingly loud that I, as there were people walking by, pretended I didn't live here...I rang the bloody door bell.....luckily also my next door neighbour is deaf, otherwise I might have found the RSPCA on the doorstep. Anyway, never ones to miss an opportunity, today the girls and doberdog are dropping off a copy of their newly made cd - "canines do howler monkeys do Semisonic" - apparently Max is on drums, Sarika on bass guitar and Purdey on lead and all are doing the "vocals" (I use the word "vocals" very loosely!!). It could go to number 1, but I am not sure in what! Enjoy (I also use the word "enjoy" very loosely!!). x

Hi Niff, today the girls and doberdog are delivering A STONE each as a present. Sarika, her princessliness, is delivering A STONE (precious) - you get to chose from a diamond, a ruby, an emerald and a sapphire - pick whichever you want. Purdey, currently, but no doubt temporarily, a fox/deer/duck poo smell free zone, is delivering A STONE (semi precious) - jet, opal, amethyst or aquamarine - as before you get to pick. And Max, when he wakes up, will be delivering A STONE (common) - your choice from pebbles he found on a walk At STONEhenge and very pretty they are too, one even has a fossil in it (no, not me!). This delivery is occuring to some background music, some provided by A group called STONE The Crows, some provided by A group called STONE Temple Pilots and also the song Ruby Tuesday by A group called the Rolling STONEs, because we Admire itS TONEs, although Max would probably prefer a lullaby. Have fun x PS It is DDDD51 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 51) and it was weigh day yesterday.....guess how much weight I have now lost? PS2 There might be clues in the message PS3 TEEHEE, time for a mega booze up or perhaps more medication or perhaps both! x.

Hi Niff, it is all quiet in the Davidmh household today, not even a doggy botty burp to report. The girls were at the v*ts earlier for booster jabs so they are a bit subdued at the moment and Max, well Max is asleep - he actually woke up a few moments ago but seeing that his East European lovelies were snoring he decided to join them in the land of nod again. So we will get straight to treats. Today the girls and doberdog are delivering some crispy skin duck, carrot and potato mash and peas with shallots and bacon. This is what I cooked and consumed on Valentine's Day, along with my share of two bottles of something fizzy. Not surprisingly I am a little concerned about tomorrow's diet weigh day! PS Anyone got any faulty (weigh less) scales they can lend me!!! x

Hi Niff, ...a RANT AND A LAUGH TODAY. First the RANT.....What is it about some cyclists? On our walk this morning I saw a cyclist coming down the footpath. I called Sarika and Purdey (Max was still asleep), they came to me, and, with them, I stood off the edge of the path in a field which had young corn growing. Whereupon, as he came by, I got a load of abuse from the cyclist about standing on the crop etc. I pointed out that I had collected the dogs and got them out of his way despite me, as a pedestrian, having right of way over him on the path. It had been clear that he wasn't going to stop. He said not to worry about the dogs because if they came anywhere near him he would kick them out of the way. It is probably not advisable to put my next words and thoughts in writing!!!!,.....And now a LAUGH......We found Sarika and Purdey stuck to the fridge this morning, the little sods had been at the fridge magnets so I guess it served them right! It made walking quite entertaining when we got near things metal. Only joking! Today's treat from the girls and doberdog is a no-go area for difficult cyclists and a fridge magnet (recycled!). Have fun x

Hi Niff, only had about 5 minutes for DoggySnaps yesterday as I had appointments with several Ms - not Maltesers unfortunately but Motorways, the M3, the M25 and the M23. Today's visit is about SARIKA who, as some will know, was yesterday announced as winner of the Humansnaps Laydee of the Month award for February, the Month of Lurve. I was really pleased and not a little proud and I just wanted to say thank you to all those who voted for her gorgeousness and also I wanted to compliment all the other lovely dogs who were nominated. In celebration we partied long into the night, apart from the other supermodel, Purdey, who was in disgrace, having again rolled in something that was both unmentionable and of uncertain origin but was, being typical Purdey, very smelly. Today the girls, the Laydee of the Month and Purdey (newly refragantised - nice make up word that), are delivering kisses to absolutely everyone and Max is delivering handshakes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Oh yes, it is also DDDD30 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 30) and it was weigh day yesterday......10lbs gone now. I was chuffed about that too but not nearly as much as about my beautiful Sarika x
