Hi Sofie, you will never guess what Sarika and Purdey found in the garden last night. There is a clue in the well-known English phrase "pi**ed as a newt" (although, personally, I have never seen a newt drunk). No, silly you, it wasn't a "pi**ed as"....whatever that might be....it was a NEWT. I haven't seen a newt for many years. I have no idea where it came from nor to where it was going but I think breeding is on its agenda. Although I let it go I was tempted to keep it as a pet because I could have called it TINY as, after all, it would have been MY NEWT! (there's nothing like a good old'un as I now unfortunately have to say with increasing regularity). I could have taken it gunnewt training, I could have taught it recall or even dressage to music. I clearly need to lie down. Meanwhile the newt finders and dobes are delivering some bread and worms in case you should find a newt, if not, according to Purdey, the worms are quite scrummy. And on my behalf there is a packet of Cadbury's mini eggs for your humans because it is Easter and because I, David, think that mini eggs are even scrummier than worms. Enjoy.
Hi Sofie, strong winds, heavy rain and deep and thick mud. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad I have got hairy gundogs who love walkies! I stand a good chance of getting both dogwashers elbow (like tennis elbow but doesn't require a bat!) and agedhousehunk's knee (like housemaid's knee but doesn't require a frock - well, except, perhaps, on Tuesday's!!!!) with all the cleaning (girlie dogs and house) taking place at the moment. Thank goodness for the DoggySnaps photos - they at least give me some idea of how the East European lovelies are meant to look! Thank goodness also that dobes prefers sleeping. A brief David's Dreadful Diet Report, after 10 weeks I have lost 1 stone 3lbs and now I am having a break until after Easter. As a clue as to what is on my eating agenda, sooner rather than later, in fact very much sooner, the mud babes and sleeping baldy are today delivering a tub of Haagen-Dazs icecream - dulche de leche flavour. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY. Enjoy x
Hi Sofie, goodness me it is windy here, I knew I would regret that second bowl of cabbage soup! Watched Crufts on the tv and there was that wonderful moment in the Friends for Life result when Harriet, the little girl with cerebral palsy, got upset after winning. Her dog, the beautiful Yepa, climbed onto Harriet's wheelchair to comfort her. It was such a wonderful moment it made me cry. The HWVs are such a fabulous sensitive breed. As a tribute to Yepa, her princessliness Sarika has been in the kitchen making an Hungarian goulash which she is sending over. Purdey is bringing the mashed potato and a vegetable of your choice and Max is bringing some bread with which you can mop up all those lovely juices. Enjoy x
hi sofie, how are you doing?, last time you dropped by you were getting ready for surgery hope it all went well for you i had surgery just before i left the dogs trust they just made sure there wasnt any unwanted puppies i guess :) they made me wear a huge collar round my neck my mom said it looked like a lamp shade...haha..still all is fine now, i still love my walks in the park every day and i run so fast given i only have 3 legs it doesent slow me down any though, let me know how you are keeping ..lots of licks...chuppy
Hi Sofie, THE GOOD NEWS, it is DDDD65 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 65) and yesterday was weigh day...guess what, 1 stone 2 lb gone now. I am very chuffed because I did scoff a lot of really yummy stuff at the wedding on Saturday. I guess that the excess has gone because it has got jolly cold here and I have exercised and shivered it off. Turning off the central heating and keeping all the windows open was clearly one of my better ideas although I am not convinced that Mrs Davidmh agrees, it is the first time she has ever had a bath while wearing gloves and a hat!!! Ho Ho (only joking but what a very good idea...Hmmmmm...!). And now the doggies: well, they are all blooming, the girls are getting plenty of exercise and Max is slowly increasing his awake hours. THE UGH NEWS, speaking of Max, he had an "accident" of the "dumping" type in the kitchen yesterday; guess who cleared it up? It wasn't him, it wasn't me or the begloved and behatted wife and, of course, it wasn't the princessliness Sarika. Purdey cleared it up, if you know what I mean! As a result the Poomonster will not be kissing me in the near future! THE TREAT NEWS, I made a thai red prawn curry for Mrs Davidmh yesterday and there is some left over so the girls and doberdog are dropping that off with some sticky rice. Enjoy x
Hi Sofie, well "it is good news and bad news" said my beautiful dentist "the good news is that your teeth are fine, the bad news is that your gums have got to come out!" Fortunately she is not only beautiful but also has a sense of humour - but I had better have another check-up tomorrow and the day after and the day after....etc (did I mention that she is beautiful?!!!!). Today the girls and doberdog are dropping off Terrine of Duck, Ginger and Spring Onion with Red Onion Marmalade and Toasted Brioche, Tender Cooked Fillet of Beef set on a Potato Rosti finished with a Red Onion Marmalade, Raspberry Brulee with a Grand Marnier Poached Fig plus Freshly Brewed Coffee and Petit Fours and a Selection of British and Continental Cheeses accompanied by Celery. Grapes and Fruit Chutney. That is what I scoffed at the wedding on Saturday, it is perhaps not surprising that I am approaching tomorrow's weigh in on DDDD64 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 64)with rather a lot of interest/trepidation. And, as it is a lovely day here, cold but sunny, I'd better get the dog walks in as snow is forecast so we will see you soon. Have fun x
hello sophie, thank you for your comments, you are such a pretty girl. if only we were closer we could've had a great play session together. i have got mischa to play with but she gets tired of my boistrous and rough play( she's a typical girl or little madam as we call her, tho my dad calls her princess). i wont be getting out to play today tho, its so wet and windy i dont even want to go out for the toilet, mum's dragging us out lol.
Hi Sophie, and we think it gets cold over here!!! Glad you're feeling ok after your op. Just take it easy. Sending you a cosy sleeping bag and some hot choc to warm you up. lots of love Stella
Hi Sofie! I bet you thought I had fallen off the face of the earth or something. Mom's office has been crazy this week so she hasn't been on the home computer at all in days. She has 8 people out sick with the flu. There are only 11 people in her office to begin with, so she's been very busy and very cranky. But oh how I've missed chatting with you! Once again we've had more snow. In the past 36 hours we received another 18 inches! It is 7 degrees out and the wind chill is making it -4. Honestly Sofie, this is getting really old. I love the snow just as much as any dog, but -4 is just way too cold to play in. I keep sinking into the snow banks so that isn't much fun either. I haven't been able to chase the rabbits in days so I guess you could say I've been a bit cranky too. There are now 4 really large ones that keep sneaking into our yard to eat the bird food that falls to the ground out of the bird feeders. I'll get one eventually, I just know it. Well I do hope you've been having a nice week and having better weather than I. Mom is convinced the North Pole is warmer than here! I am leaving you some warm cocoa with marshmallows piled high as that is what we drink to get warm, plus a slice of cherry chip cake! Much love, you friend, Topanga xxxx
Hi Sofie. It's been really hot today, I went for a walk with Mummy earlier and I've spent alot of the day outside in the back garden with Mummy & Pepsi. Mummy added some more pictures of us last night, hope you like them! We're off to eat our supper now. :) Your treat today is a yummy ice-cream sundae (any flavour you want!)...enjoy! Lots of love from Buffy & Pepsi ..x..x..x..
Hi Sofie, as you know I have two hairy gundogs. What I want to know is why is it that one (her princessliness Sarika) can drink water and leave not a drip on the floor and the other (the poomonster Purdey) leaves the kitchen looking like we have had a tsunami in it? Is it because one is a princess? Does it have anything to do with fox/deer/duck/provider-unknown poo? Is it because her mum didn't train Purdey properly? Is it correctable? Shall I get Purdey a bib - one of those plastic ones that catch baby food? Do they still make them? Do they do them for dogs? HELP. It is DDDD58 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 58) and it was weigh day yesterday and it wasn't great, same weight as last week. I am a bit disappointed as I'm not aware of having eaten anything naughty and unfortunately the diet is under pressure this weekend as I intend "excessing to excess" at a wedding. More exercise required methinks. OH DEAR. Today therefore the girls and doberdog are dropping off a couple of my spare pounds (no, not of the cash variety!) to see if that helps, and a mop, just in case Purdey comes to visit you. Oh alright then, and a large piece of fillet steak too. Have fun x
Hey my friend, what a cold and windy day, I'm so glad I have thick fur :) Guess what I did this evening? I pinched a packet of mummys polo mints out of her coat pocket and munched most of them, wrapping and all. Most delicious! I saved one for you. Lots of love always Alfie xox
oh no sophie.... here this in my emegency teddy bear full of snack, i would like you to take this with you while your at the hospital....my mom said i got to have my "B***" removed soon!! i don't think i like that idea. but take care

Hi Sofie, nice to meet you, yesterday I thought I was living with howler monkeys. I got back from my regular trip to the supermarkets where, as usual, I had been looking at food and touching the bottles of wine....dieting David also know locally as "here comes that sad of unknown parentage"... anyway, I digress...I returned to a veritable cacophany of sound. All three dogs, even sleeping baldy, were howling - I have no idea what had set them off although I had left the excellent Semisonic album "Feeling Strangely Fine" playing on the CD player so maybe they were trying to sing along! You should have heard the noise...LOUD..Er..no..it was VERY VERY VERY LOUD. In fact it was so embarrassingly loud that I, as there were people walking by, pretended I didn't live here...I rang the bloody door bell.....luckily also my next door neighbour is deaf, otherwise I might have found the RSPCA on the doorstep. Anyway, never ones to miss an opportunity, today the girls and doberdog are dropping off a copy of their newly made cd - "canines do howler monkeys do Semisonic" - apparently Max is on drums, Sarika on bass guitar and Purdey on lead and all are doing the "vocals" (I use the word "vocals" very loosely!!). It could go to number 1, but I am not sure in what! Enjoy (I also use the word "enjoy" very loosely!!). x
