hello, I'm Joy, my friend is Sue. Thank you to all my friends who visit my baby while I am away. We have lost all our goats and donkeys now (I'd had Jed for 32 years) Too infirm now (me!!) to replace.
I am not around ds so much, health worries and losing furry friends made 2009 a difficult year, and 2010 started with the loss of my lovely little Poppy, my special cat. Now she is with Ellie. Sometimes, I haven't the energy or the inclination to come onsite, but I don't want to seem as if I'm always moaning, so in these difficult times, I tend to stay away. But my friends on Doggysnaps are never forgotten. Love to you all.

Hi Joy, I think I have your email address already........ well, I hope so. Thanks for the lovely message, I too have a horse that is very lame, all wasted muscle over one side of his quarters, but he seems very happy most of the time, still pulls out electric fence posts if the battery dies!!! He tests it with his muzzle. He is unbelievable........ last summer I was bringing Jack[the thug] and Splodge in and this involved turning off the power, walking down a narrow path, taking down an electric 'gate'. Walk back with horses to gate 1 - an electric spring... turned off. Jack limped away in front of me, I had hold of the big horse. Jack then proceeded to walk into the spring - and KEEP WALKING! Another spring needed! He was quite unpreturbed as it coiled round his legs, he just shook one leg at a time and stepped out of it, crossed the lane and hoofed it down to his box where he knew the feed would be in already! All that on three legs! Malcolm is away checking/moving fence for them now. Here is my latest C&P, please keep in contact; I too can't be doing with a lot of silliness, I have not been pleased with recent events on DS......... Hello to my Doggysnapping friends, I have been finding it increasingly difficult to access various kennels, the puddle is getting larger! If you would like to correspond with me via email please leave me your address in a PM in my kennel [all supposing you can get in!] I have enjoyed my time on Doggysnaps until recently when I found that I had been dutifully been corresponding with one person who was masquerading in the guise of 9 different kennels; those are only the ones I wrote to, I know there were more. It really shook me, I assumed people were as they purported to be; naive I know. Then there was the bullying episode, I was not affected but I do not feel so comfortable on DS now. I feel fortunate to have made several friends on DS with whom I correspond intermittently by email and we exchange the odd photo. If any of you would like to do this please mail me – I warn you though I am not a regular correspondent! I have a very new shiny kennel on Brickies Gazette; this is a new venture, I have written a profile on one of my dear departed doggy friends, Benjamin, and I have also described a favourite walk. It is different from DS, there are articles written by various contributors on different continents, interesting. I do hope you will visit me in my new venue and enjoy it as much as I am doing. I’ll still be popping into DS to check the forums and my mail but I see myself as a ‘lodger’ there now, not a permanent resident. I do hope to hear from you when you have time, meanwhile I hope your dogs and other animals are well. All the best, Lynda

Hello Auntie Joy, we are off on a spring break to the Isle of Coll for a week, so my Mum has been spring cleaning for the cat sitter, my Dad said she shouldn’t have bothered as the cats will get it all mucky again, I had to endure wet carpets, as she cleaned them, she even wiped off my decorative markings on the wall, artistic placed from shaking after wet walks and tail painting. To continue the with the car saga, it is sill costing a lot of money and hey doesn’t it drink a lot, at least my Mum has brought my food and treats and for the cats this week, she measured me for a new bed (I got quite worried, with that tape measure being poked at me) but I don’t like this new bed addition, so I will bestow it to the cats, but this car, why does it have to have an ID disc that costs such a lot of money ? what is more surprising, humans give it a new disc each year, I have to make do with my old ID disc year after year, only once it got renewed and then that was because we changed homes, I understand this is a humans trait, that all our Mums and Dads spend a lot of money on ID discs for car creatures year after year. This week, I managed to pee on a doggy friend of mine, he was getting a bit too close to my ‘nether regions’ for my liking, so I lifted my leg and wee and my Mum apologised, cheek, he was the one that was getting too personal. Off to pack my bags. Take care, love & woofs, Dylan and my team of cats xx xx

Hello, remembering Ellie who was so like Polly the Perfect Pilkhound; a wonderful tribute you wrote to her...............Hi there, I’m very short of time tonight so I’ve done the treats/tributes but no comments, sorry. And now the latest Woofle/woffle from Chaos Corner......... Tuesday 28th. April Hello to all my Doggysnapping friends, I’m home in Co Armagh again; just me and ‘the ole fella’, plus, of course, 10 dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses and a cock Pheasant in a fir tree! The latter put in a dramatic appearance when Jessie spied him on the lawn, much barking from pheasant and Jess and a great flurry of feathers as he launched upward to land in a conifer in deep shrubbery. Molly, Jess and Lulu came with me to the little house in Co Donegal, we were very happy, all girls together! It is amazing how much, and how far plaster dust can travel in an open plan house: there is a lot to be said for DOORS! The stair gate is now permanently fixed to stop the Holy Terrors escaping and landing on our bed upstairs. I took the jeep and horsebox with a load of sawdust to bed up the stables ready for my annual exodus sometime in the summer. While I had a trailer there I went to collect the biggest, heaviest fenceposts ever from a tiny sawmill. This is a one-man-operation, the sawmill has been in his family for generations, originally it was a water-powered mill. It is situated down a very narrow track flanked by lichen-covered newly budding trees and carpeted with bluebells; when there is no machinery running all one can hear is birdsong and the sound of the stream burbling along. This is a truly magical location, it has the sense of being in another world. Loading the fence posts soon brought me back to earth though! Fortunately Robert was there to give me a hand, well, I encouraged him while he did the lifting!! All visitors have now departed and all washing/ironing is finished, a mammoth job. Our next visitor is expected in May when he arrives from New Jersey; Fred arrives to attend ‘The Irish Railtour’: this is a mainline steam extravaganza, where the worst thing that can happen is the bar runs out of Guinness! This year it is a trip to Galway on the West coast; never will there be seen so many men equipped with cameras and tripods all wearing some form of an anorak! Lulu is having a phantom pregnancy and has to go onto Galastop when I get it from the vet.’s later this afternoon; we are having her spayed whenever the milk has dried up. This afternoon we are bringing the two horses home from their field which now resembles a muddy, rotavated hillside; those two are equine locusts! I am hoping the farrier will be here later to trim their feet before they are off to pastures new. As I type this Malcolm is preparing lunch for his mother and the dogs are beginning to gather by the kitchen door in hopeful anticipation of tearing down to her bungalow and there being rewarded with a biscuit: at these times it is Bedlam living here! I hope the pheasant is up in the trees...................... I hope all of you are well and the dogs are keeping you on your toes! Kind Regards, wags and woofs, Lynda and The Gang at Chaos Corner

Hello Auntie Joy, our thoughts are with you as you reflect on Ellie's anniversary, sweet dreams sweetheart. Sorry we have not been in contact, my Mum, Dad and I have not been very well during the Easter holidays, my Mum has given my Dad her cold, he has been suffering with a block nose and had some difficulties in breathing, my Mum still has a cough and complained of stomach pains and I spend a lot of time at the vets on Saturday morning, it was a double appointment with Lucy, (our cat with no tail), she had her booster but I had 4 injections, a blood test, anal glands emptied and a thermometer up my bum and subjected to the same indignity on Monday, I have started eating again and the vomiting has ceased but I didn’t like the special food prescribed so I ate the cat food instead, still not 100% still a bit sluggish on my walks but I am better than I was, we still don’t know what was wrong with me, the vet suspects my arthritis was giving me some discomfort. To my days away at Spean Bridge, I met a lovely golden retriever, Henry, we had some lovely sniffs together. Our Lodge was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful, no TV or radio in the background, the humans practised the art of conversation, they didn’t take the laptop, just had the mobiles. The birds fed at the bird table throughout the day that was attached to the veranda of our Lodge, it was lovely to see them and my Dad got a few good photos, just as well my pesky cats weren’t there. I did have a run on the private beach, it was shingles and not sandy but I didn’t care, I fetched my ball out of the Loch, only twice my Dad had to wade in as it was out of my depth, he only conned me into swimming once. Hope you all had a very happy Easter and thank you for all your lovely Easter messages. Love, Dylan and the cats xx xx

I was out for my walk and this border collie rushed towards me and pointed his nose at my tail end just as I was having a comfort stop, was not happy. Humans still not happy with Skimble, one of our cats crew, vet appointment looming. Update on Skimble, can’t find anything wrong with him physically, he is eating OK but very weary, seems to have lost his zest for life, he does have a bite mark on his head and we are concerned he may have been bitten by something unknown. On the earthly outside cat toilet area, there is evidence of something that has burrowed under our decking, we are taking him back for an antibiotic injection and at the weekend my Dad is going to try and lift the decking to see what is lurking down there. My Uncle is staying with us for a week, as his work has taken him nearer to our home than his, so I am getting a lot of fuss and so are the cats, especially Tigger, the ginger one, he is still very kittenish. My Dad was telling the story, he came home early from work, as he walked home from the train station, he spied a black dog and thought, ‘that looks like my dog but that doesn’t look like my wife’, it was me with Rachael, my lovely neighbour and dog walker, my Mum was at work earning some pennies. Did you spot the fact, he recognised me first before taking a glance at the human and realised it wasn’t my Mum, he got his priorities right . Love, Dylan and the cat team xx xx.

Hello Auntie Joy, sorry yet another flying visit, my Mum has be working all this week and hasn’t had too much free time plus she has been a bit pre-occupied with Lucy, she seems a bit better, but we are having a fight in getting her tablets down, she knows they are in her food, even the secret weapon of tuna is not doing the trick and we can’t get them down manually, teeth, claws and squawks, she would rather leave her food than eat the dreaded pink thing lurking in it. Will try and catch up with news soon. Housework has to be done as tomorrow, I don’t go to work with my Mum and she wants the house relatively tidy for the dogsitter. Love and woofs, Dylan and the cat team. xx xx
