Hi Murphy, I am just taking a break from the packing (we are off to Dorset for a couple of days in search of the elusive salmon). Outside it is a grey day here but inside it is mocha latte ice cream coloured, well the kitchen is. I think that I might have overfilled the ice cream maker. At least licking it straight from the walls saves on the washing up and luckily it is absolutely scrumptious. So the girlies (who are currently asleep beside me as I type and are, judging by their movements, dreaming of things they chased yesterday), me and Max, if I can drag him away from the newspaper, are dropping off some of the new ice cream, fresh from the walls. Back soon, have fun x
Hi Murphy, our gorgeous Purdey the Poomonster is TWO years old today, a grown up lady now. Sarika and Max are therefore dropping off some birthday cake and a bottle of pop for you. Enjoy x

Hi Murphy, how are you? We have had a lot of rain here over the weekend and the tracks have turned into muddy streams. Now I was never a Boy Scout but I remember their motto "Be Prepared", so I have decided it is time to build a boat, just in case we get more floods. I was going to call it an ARK but then I thought "No er, someone has already done that". So I have decided to call it a BARK. Not BARK as in sailing ship but BARK as in WOOF. In fact, on reflection, I shall call it a WOOF.... DAVID'S WOOF.......that has got a nice ring about it, don't you think? Anyway, it is for doggies only so let me know if you would like to reserve a place on DAVID'S WOOF, reasonable rates. Yesterday I made some thai fishcakes which were yummy so the girls, doberdog and I are sending some over with sweet chilli sauce. Got to go now because there are people at the door, OOH ER it is the men in white coats!! Have fun x
Hi Murphy, how are you? I hoped that spring had sprung, if it has I think it has now sprung back into its box because it has been icy cold here. And talking of spring, Sarika did a somersault/back flip yesterday, I shall call it a "Purdey" which is also a bit of a clue as to the outcome. She was chasing a tennis ball which bounced over her head, in her excitement she leapt in the air and did a back flip after the ball .........and landed straight in something disgusting. I think that it had previously "belonged" to a deer or a badger! Sarika was mortified, she is after all a LADY and so was I, because, somehow or other, I ended up with some of it on me. I am simply not articulate enough to describe the awfulness of the stench, not without using a fair number of swearwords anyway. Ugh..Ugh..and treble Ugh!!! Thank goodness for tomato puree (Sarika) and anti bacterial handwash (me)and the washing machine (my clothes). And Purdey clearly smiled when she saw what had happened to both Her Majesty and me (her slave), she was also quite clearly trying to work out how to get some of the pong by rolling on Sarika and/or me. Today's treat therefore is an absolute essential now, a non-bouncing tennis ball. And I am off to check my hands again. Have fun x
Hi Murphy, how are you today? A quick visit from us because I've got a new camera, the sun is shining and the supermodels, Sarika and Purdey, are ready to pose. I am very pleased to say that Mrs Davidmh seems to have forgiven me, I was allowed in the house last night, albeit only the kitchen. All because of my plan to recycle dogs hair into hair pieces for slap heads (ie me and Max). As some have probably guessed, she hadn't heard the word "virtual" when I explained about the numerous tons of hair that the wonderful DoggySnappers were sending over. Phew. BUT I THINK I MIGHT HAVE A REAL PROBLEM NOW because this morning the postman actually delivered a parcel of dog hair (black and white). OOPS. I think I might be up-that-creek I cannot mention without a paddle. Today the doggies are delivering a paddle to you so I know where one is if I end up up-that-creek I cannot mention and they are also delivering a baked potato with Thai green prawn curry and spinach, because that is what I ate last night and it was yummy. Which also explains why my diet restarts next week! Enjoy x
Hi Murphy, how are you? It poured with rain here last night but now spring is back, the sun is out and it is getting warm. This will be a short visit to DoggySnaps because I have just noticed Sarika and Purdey getting their wellies on. I am getting the message that a walk - or should I say an expedition featuring sniffing exotic and not-so-exotic smells, rolling in poo, eating poo, hunting and chasing everything including animals, insects and leaves and swimming in any available puddle - is required. And I am not going to mention "getting filthy dirty". It really IS a dog's life round here! They are leaving you one of my socks, slightly chewed, and a worm, slightly chewed, and the Heart greatest hits cd because that is playing here at the moment. Have fun x.
Hi Murphy, how are you? Sarika, Purdey, Max and their aged slave wish you and yours a lovely Easter and are sending you each a virtual Easter Egg full of happiness. x
Hi Murphy, you will never guess what Sarika and Purdey found in the garden last night. There is a clue in the well-known English phrase "pi**ed as a newt" (although, personally, I have never seen a newt drunk). No, silly you, it wasn't a "pi**ed as"....whatever that might be....it was a NEWT. I haven't seen a newt for many years. I have no idea where it came from nor to where it was going but I think breeding is on its agenda. Although I let it go I was tempted to keep it as a pet because I could have called it TINY as, after all, it would have been MY NEWT! (there's nothing like a good old'un as I now unfortunately have to say with increasing regularity). I could have taken it gunnewt training, I could have taught it recall or even dressage to music. I clearly need to lie down. Meanwhile the newt finders and dobes are delivering some bread and worms in case you should find a newt, if not, according to Purdey, the worms are quite scrummy. And on my behalf there is a packet of Cadbury's mini eggs for your humans because it is Easter and because I, David, think that mini eggs are even scrummier than worms. Enjoy.
Hi Murphy, strong winds, heavy rain and deep and thick mud. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad I have got hairy gundogs who love walkies! I stand a good chance of getting both dogwashers elbow (like tennis elbow but doesn't require a bat!) and agedhousehunk's knee (like housemaid's knee but doesn't require a frock - well, except, perhaps, on Tuesday's!!!!) with all the cleaning (girlie dogs and house) taking place at the moment. Thank goodness for the DoggySnaps photos - they at least give me some idea of how the East European lovelies are meant to look! Thank goodness also that dobes prefers sleeping. A brief David's Dreadful Diet Report, after 10 weeks I have lost 1 stone 3lbs and now I am having a break until after Easter. As a clue as to what is on my eating agenda, sooner rather than later, in fact very much sooner, the mud babes and sleeping baldy are today delivering a tub of Haagen-Dazs icecream - dulche de leche flavour. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY. Enjoy x
Hi Murphy, goodness me it is windy here, I knew I would regret that second bowl of cabbage soup! Watched Crufts on the tv and there was that wonderful moment in the Friends for Life result when Harriet, the little girl with cerebral palsy, got upset after winning. Her dog, the beautiful Yepa, climbed onto Harriet's wheelchair to comfort her. It was such a wonderful moment it made me cry. The HWVs are such a fabulous sensitive breed. As a tribute to Yepa, her princessliness Sarika has been in the kitchen making an Hungarian goulash which she is sending over. Purdey is bringing the mashed potato and a vegetable of your choice and Max is bringing some bread with which you can mop up all those lovely juices. Enjoy x PS thanks to "mum" for her message x
Hi Murphy, well "it is good news and bad news" said my beautiful dentist "the good news is that your teeth are fine, the bad news is that your gums have got to come out!" Fortunately she is not only beautiful but also has a sense of humour - but I had better have another check-up tomorrow and the day after and the day after....etc (did I mention that she is beautiful?!!!!). Today the girls and doberdog are dropping off Terrine of Duck, Ginger and Spring Onion with Red Onion Marmalade and Toasted Brioche, Tender Cooked Fillet of Beef set on a Potato Rosti finished with a Red Onion Marmalade, Raspberry Brulee with a Grand Marnier Poached Fig plus Freshly Brewed Coffee and Petit Fours and a Selection of British and Continental Cheeses accompanied by Celery. Grapes and Fruit Chutney. That is what I scoffed at the wedding on Saturday, it is perhaps not surprising that I am approaching tomorrow's weigh in on DDDD64 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 64)with rather a lot of interest/trepidation. And, as it is a lovely day here, cold but sunny, I'd better get the dog walks in as snow is forecast so we will see you soon. Have fun x
Hi Murphy, it is all quiet in the Davidmh household today, not even a doggy botty burp to report. The girls were at the v*ts earlier for booster jabs so they are a bit subdued at the moment and Max, well Max is asleep - he actually woke up a few moments ago but seeing that his East European lovelies were snoring he decided to join them in the land of nod again. So we will get straight to treats. Today the girls and doberdog are delivering some crispy skin duck, carrot and potato mash and peas with shallots and bacon. This is what I cooked and consumed on Valentine's Day, along with my share of two bottles of something fizzy. Not surprisingly I am a little concerned about tomorrow's diet weigh day! PS Anyone got any faulty (weigh less) scales they can lend me!!! x
Hi Murphy,,...today's question...is supermodel status going to Sarika's head? Not only does she, like her "sister", now refuse to get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day but the Laydee of the Month of Lurve rather disgraced herself yesterday. Bear in mind that she is an Hungarian princess - first we had a quite distinct BURP followed shortly afterwards by a very audible BOTTOM BURP - in fact it was so loud she frightened herself and scarpered! It did make me laugh though and for a moment there I thought I was back in my old rugby club!!!! Purdey has always been rather basic (or is the required word normal?) but Sarika, the princess, her ladyship, her most graciousness, has always been rather above such elemental things. The bottom burp was actually fragrant, in fact quite clearly perfumed, so I guess she redeemed herself a tad. Maxwell Doberdog was of course oblivious to it all, being asleep - even the noise did not disturb him. Today the girls and dobes are therefore dropping off some "just in case" treats - earplugs, a cork and a noseclip. Oh yes, they will also chuck in some food because dieting David (ie me) is still fantasizing and therefore I need to mention some yummies - this time it is a fillet steak, rare, with chips and peas and mushrooms and an onion and tomato salad and lots of English mustard and, of course, a cherry bakewell tart again (still dreaming!) and custard, lots of custard! MMMMMMMMMMMM. Have fun x
hi Murphy, WOW....WOW...and more WOWs.....the weekend was marked by an absolutely sensational event.....a truly incredible result.....Drum Roll.......Another Drum Roll......And Another Drum Roll......No, not the rugby, even more incredible than that.......yes indeedy, Purdey didn't get to roll in anything stinky because we managed to stop her! She spotted something on our walk, something which would have been, invariably, very smelly and would also have been very unpleasant stuck to her neck and back!!! We think that, in a previous life, it had been a duck's dinner. Fortunately, Purdey was still on the lead so her loveliness (Mrs Davidmh not Sarika, not to say that Sarika isn't lovely, in fact she is very lovely) managed to pull her to her feet as she started to drop....EXCELLENT....Our first victory over the POOMONSTER which makes the score very much closer...Us 1 - Purdey 237. And now our walk....WE MET UP WITH SOME OTHER DOGGYSNAPPERS for the first time. It was brilliant because they all turned out to be great fun and really lovely and the doggies turned out to be even more gorgeous in real life than they are on here. Roll on the next meeting. And finally it will not come as a surprise to anyone that today the girls and doberdog are dropping off a portion of recycled duck's dinner to roll in...Purdey cannot have it(TeeHee), Sarika is far too much of a Laydee for such things and Max is asleep. PS Oh yes, it is of course DDDD35 (David's Dreadful Diet Day 35), gosh, 5 weeks now and weigh day tomorrow, I don't "feel" any lighter this week so we will see. Have fun x

So we will get straight to treats. Today the girls and doberdog are delivering some crispy skin duck, carrot and potato mash and peas with shallots and bacon. Have fun x
