I am so sorry that you had to lose Lurker in such a way. That has to be so much worse that having to take such a decision when they are ill. Education does need to be provided on how to handle dogs - this is so grossly unfair. Take good care of yourself. Trish
What a tragic story. I was on the forums on here today and mentioned that I was recently walking my dog and a mother and a child of about 10 years old approached us. When the boy got right up to us he dangled his coat sleeve right in front of Toby's face whilst making silly sounds. The mother didn't try to stop him -talk about irresponsible. Toby grabbed hold of the coat sleeve and I had to tell him to drop it and I got very stressed out by the incident, which all happened within seconds. What if the boy had put his hand in my dogs face instead? Obviously Toby thought it was enticement to play and reacted as many a dog would if a stranger thrust an object into their face. I think it should be made part of school education that children are taught about the dangers and joys of dog ownership. My thoughts are with you. Luker a shining star in heaven x Sleep tight little one.
luker what a dream boat you are , i bet you did not mean to bite that little girl, i agree parents must teach there children not to tease dogs. if we are provoked we fight back . love to you luker rest in peace my friend .xxxx
I agree with all the comments made so far - parents should control their kids and teach them not to tease or annoy any animal. It annoys me how they are quick to side with the human - dogs have as much right as we do and should not be punished for things beyond their control. Most of the reports you hear about dogs biting people they never state what the person who got bit was doing for the dog to bite them in the first place - I believe that 9/10 they would need to have been provoked or hurt in some way. My dog is a Staffie x GSD and although he has an excellent nature I would not leave him alone with strangers or the like as he is a rescue dog and I do not know what his life was like for the 5 years before I got him. Anyway, I have sent a tribute for the lovely fella and my thoughts are with you. Natalie and Benji (the Staffie). X
Awwww what a very sad story. Parents should teach children NOT to tease dogs and should be held partially responsible when things go wrong. After all it is the dog who pays the ultimate price! God bless & run free sweet boy xxxx
So sorry to hear about Luker, children just dont understand not to tease dogs and the poor dogs will only take so much but they are the ones who pay the price. My thoughts are with you, I've sent a tribute to the gorgeous boy x
Oh that is such a shame! I do know from first hand experience what some children with dogs and cats can be like (not all children I hasten to add)! It must have been even more difficult and sad for you -to see your lovely healthy dog put down because a child tormented him! My thoughts are with you. Tribute sent.
