Hello, Romany Ree here, Shona has now gone back to Uni in Leeds so Mam and I have reclaimed the computer and can communicate at leisure with our DS friends again. Yippee! Well, the other day Mam was flicking through her Robinson's catalogue which is full of horsey and doggy stuff when she suddenly had one of her 'I don't believe it!' moments. The offending article it seems was on page 220 - 'A Robinson's collapsible pet stroller' which apparently is 'suitable for dogs up to 10kg'. "Anyone who buys a dog so they can push it around in a pushchair ought to be taken outside and shot!" she raged. I think she takes a hard line on this one! Mind you, is this the same person who has just bought me a new heart-shaped ID tag - in pink! ( "That's different!" she snapped.) And just the other day I overheard her say "Daddy, what time are we taking the baby dog out?" !!! THE BABY DOG! I ask you. Has she forgotten I'm a rough tough farm-bred collie with ISDS papers and everything/ The words 'pot' and 'kettle' come to mind! Sending you page 220 of the Robinson's catalogue so you can see for yourself. (I'd shred it if I were you), lots of love Romany Ree xxx
Hello again, Romany here. Ever since I arrived here Mam has wanted to call me 'Romany Ree' but she doesn't know quite why. So she keyed it in to the search thingy on the computer, and apparently the 'Romany Ree' is an old traditional Scottish dance. It's also an old fisherman's fly-tying technique (the'Romany Rye and the Romany Ree'). But Mam thinks it's possibly something from her childhood - possibly the chorus of a song, or a character in a storybook perhaps. Just the sort of thing that would have been in those wonderful Rupert annuals - 'on his way home for tea, Rupert bumped into Romany Ree' - that sort of thing. Any ideas would be most welcome. But it gets dafter! Just recently she's started calling me 'Romany Ree from number forty-three'. So Shona says 'but we don't live at number forty-three.' And Mam says 'yes, but forty two doesn't rhyme!' There really is no hope is there? Sending you some fruit cake today as it seems appropriate! love Romany Ree from number forty-three'. (Well, forty-two really!) xxxxx
Hi there Nags and Stan, Romany here. Shona has gone to the pictures so Mam and I have nicked the computer for the afternoon. It's funny but when I first arrived here, it got dark early on an evening and when I went in the lounge there was always another puppy staring at me from the other side of the french windows. When I barked she barked back. When I hid from her behind the chair she disappeared, and when I peeped round at the window again she was there again! But then the nights got lighter and the puppy stopped coming. But recently the nights have been drawing in again and the other night there she was, staring back at me from the other side of the french window! Except now she is much bigger and doesn't look like a puppy anymore. I keep barking at her. I even know her name now. She's called 'Your Reflection'. I know this because Mam told me ('Romany, that's your reflection', she said). Funny name for a dog don't you think? Sending soup and rolls as it keeps raining. love Romany xxx
Hi, Guess what…..Karla & I were eavesdropping on a phone call between Mum & Dad last night ……. and we heard the word holiday more than once. Human sis said to Mum that Dad and her thought she needed another holiday after the year she’s been having. Which means Mum’s LEAVING US AGAIN!! Human sis says not to worry as she is staying at home with us while Mum & Dad are in Egypt so we will be well looked after. Well I’m off to start practicing my pitiful look with Karla, to see if we can get a few extra treats when Mum goes away. We should have it perfected by September lol. Leaving you a treat from Belle, Karla & Mum x x
Hi Nags and Stan, Romany here. Shona has gone out so Mam and I have nicked the computer to go on doggysnaps today, (as opposed to vaccuming the bedrooms or installing the new printer which has been sitting on the landing for a week now). Had a lovely adventure in the early morning sunshine the other day. Our local farmer has a grass airstrip which runs up the middle of one of his wheat fields where he and his mates go to play with their planes on weekends. Well, Mam and I were just approaching the airstrip the other morning when we saw this huge hare. I set off in hot pursuit off down the airstrip after it. It couldn't half shift! I was almost out of Mam's sight by the time it finally gave me the slip and I had to run back empty-pawed. Don't tell anyone, but I didn't have a hope of catching it! Mam told me how Morag used to be fascinated by Farmer John's aeroplanes and how she once absconded from a walk in the woods to go plane-spotting on the airstrip and give one or two of them a run for their money! Unfortunately she forgot where she left Mam and was finally escorted home by one of the neighbours. Mam WAS pleased! But that's another story . . . Poor Little Mog. Anyway my new trick is to empty the log basket and remove the bark from the logs all over the lounge floor. Tee-hee. Funny how I'm allowed the logs but not the basket. Aren't people funny. Sending you a nice log to get your teeth into and a dead wood louse I found under the basket. love Romany xxx
Hi N and S, how are you, soon to be numb gum David here today. I managed to break a front tooth vertically again yesterday, it serves me right for eating broken biscuit cake straight from the fridge (I blame she who has just got back from university, I hid the cake so she wouldn't pinch it!). "That is a very crunchy biscuit" I thought until I found the gap in my tooth. I am temporarily being referred to as FANG but at least my soon-to be visited dentist is beautiful. All is well here otherwise, glorious weather and all the doggies are enjoying life. As a treat we are sending over a bit of broken biscuit cake (if you find any very crunchy bits perhaps you could let me have them back) x
Hi N and S, is it me or, at the moment, does every new month on DoggySnaps seems to bring some new sadness? So today no funnies from the strange world of Davidmh, we are simply visiting as we wanted to say hello and also to send a virtual cuddle to all our friends x
Hi Nag and Stan, Romany here. Well on Sunday someone called Shona is coming back from University. I've never met her but apparently SHE LIVES HERE! Got her own bedroom upstairs and everything. I've even been told this is HER computer! Hope she's nice. Mam says I'll have to meet her the first time out in the garden as I am certain to wee myself with excitement and delight. (She's right). Anyway she says I probably won't see that much of her as she spends most of her time on the computer or out with friends or shopping in somewhere called Top Shop, which I suppose is a bit like Pets at Home. Personally I prefer Next. I keep getting something called the Next Directory out of the bookcase to browse through, but Mam just takes it off me and says 'It's not yours!' Bet they've got some good stuff in there if the taste of the cardboard cover is anything to go by. Sendiung some puppy bone biscuits and page 14 of the Next Directory. love and licks, Romany xxx
Hi Guys, our gorgeous Purdey the Poomonster is TWO years old today, a grown up lady now. Sarika and Max are therefore dropping off some birthday cake and a bottle of pop for you. Enjoy x
H guys, well that was a fun couple of days, weatherwise. If you like paddling, swimming, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, fishing, jet and water-skiing and sailing then my back garden was the place to be this weekend, we had so much rain. It is also the first time I have actually considered wearing my fishing chest waders for dog walking - what a picture that would have been, fortunately for all concerned the thought of being seen dissuaded me! Anyway, at the moment, it is not raining so the girls and dobes are dropping off a spare photograph of the sun (no, not the newspaper, that big yellow thing that is meant to be in the sky round here), some broken biscuit cake (because I made one yesterday) and my fishing chest waders (because they, like me, don't want to be seen out with me if I am wearing them!!!). Have fun x
Hello there, Romany here, Mam's been so busy with me lately she hasn't had much time for DS and says she is getting withdrawal symptoms. On Sunday we went off to Pets at Home again for some goodies and a couple of gadgets to stop me pulling on the lead and trying to chase cars. (Mam's having kittens about it!). Everyone in the shop loved me and wanted to make a fuss. I got so excited I weed myself - twice! Luckily Mam was expecting this and had brought extra tissues (tee hee). Anyway when we were in the woods the other day I was charging up and down the track getting far too excited, and I was just thinking about taking a sneaky chunk out of Mam's leg as I ran past when I forgot to look where I was going and crashed straight into the trunk of a giant oak tree. I flew through the air with a big yelp and landed in a heap. Mam checked my mouth to see if my teeth were still all there (they were), and said if I'd been a human I would have been knocked unconscious, taken to hospital, treated for concussion and kept in overnight for observation! But we collies are tougher than that! Although It did take nearly ten seconds before I was running about again. Got a heck of a wallop though, and think I will be more careful in future. Sending you a pork roll from Pets at Home and some bits of tree trunk I found in my fur. love Romany xxx
Hello my friends. how are you today? we are doing great here. a beautiful day again. not much happening as mum was really busy. playgroup this morning and picking kids up from school . today we have for you meat rissoles left over from dinner. take care, have a good day. love Tess & Buster. ♥♥♥
Hi N and S, this is a quick visit before we go walkies as the weather is changing, blast. Just when I was getting used to dry and clean (the dogs) and a suntan (mine). So it is away with the suntan lotion (mine) and out again with the wellies (mine) and the towels and wash basin (dogs). Typical. To cheer myself up I made another vodka and orange trifle (hic!) because it went (hic) down very well (hic) before and the girls and dobes are dropping off some of that as well as a tennis ball (from Sarika), an empty bird's egg (from Purdey) and some zzzzzzs (from Max). Have fun x
Hello again Nag and Stan, Romany here. What fantastic weather. Is it always like this? Each day I go with Mam to a place called the Ploughman's Wood. It's very old and dates back to the 12th century and Dad says even Mam isn't THAT old (he need talk!) Its especially good at the moment with tons of bluebells, star of Bethlehem, wood sorrell, campions and other stuff. Haven't spotted any squirrels yet. Morag used to try to go up trees after them! Today Mam has been to pets at home to get me a new fleecey thing for my crate. I want to chew it up, but she doesn't seem to pleased at the idea. Rainbow the rabbit still won't play. I have yapped my head off to no avail. His eyes are a bit runny again at the moment so Mam is fussing about over him even more than usual. Don't know what she sees in him. Sending all the dandelions in the garden so Rainbow can't have them! love Romany xxx
Hi Nagai and Stangyre,,,Its a flying visit today just to say hello as mummys not very well, she thinks it was the takeaway she had last night, for some strange reason it decided to come back out at 3am this morning and she still feels poorly,,Have a good weekend X Babyboy(Lee)
Hi, we’ve been out visiting this morning; we even got to play in mum’s friend’s garden. We love visiting there as mum’s friend has a box of Gravy Bone just for us and we get one each time we visit. Leaving you a treat. Waggy tails. Belle & Karla xx.
